"We will be back"

9.0

We loved the property and its location, in a small neighborhood close to many amenities. June Mountain is really cute, but plan your shopping because things are closed early and may only be open a few days a week. We brought most of our groceries and cooked at home, and the kitchen was very well appointed with everything you need plus a coffee maker. My husband loved the outdoor grill on the big deck; we used that a couple nights. The primary bathroom has a great shower, and there are two other bathrooms, which was useful - one upstairs in the living area, and another downstairs shared by the two bedrooms there. Kids' rooms are very cute. Our kids decided to share the room with the bunk bed and not sleep in separate rooms like they do at home. The place feels very spacious - having the two levels is nice. There were televisions in the living room and primary bedroom (given the pictures, I didn't know if there would be a TV), and I believe there were TVs in every bedroom. We were there to ski and not lounge, but that's nice of someone wants to chill and have private time. We were exhausted from being on the slopes all day and would hang out in the primary bedroom at night after dinner to watch a show my kids enjoy. My husband would read in the other room. It was a pleasant surprise to have a wonderful mudroom for holding our coats and boots, and we kept skis in the garage. We also parked in the large garage, which a kind neighbor let us know was available to us. We didn't want for anything - except snow! There was no snow at June, so we ended up at Mammoth for four days. Initially, we weren't thrilled about having to make that dive, but it actually was a very pleasant drive after the hustle of getting everyone ready to ski. No chains needed for driving at that time, but we had them in case they were needed. I felt that if I needed something I could call the management company, and they would resolve it, but we didn't need anything.

There was a powerful cleaning product chemical smell in the house when we arrived. Two of our party have allergies and asthma, and I can get migraines from chemical smells, so that was a bummer. I opened all the doors and windows for an hour or so to air out the house, which helped a lot, but it took another day to fully dissipate. There also was a strongly perfumed detergent smell in our blanket. I'm sensitive to these things and prefer no scents. The place was very clean, though. When we departed I informed the management company about the smell, and she let me know there had been a tight turnaround and next time I could let them know in advance, and they'd make sure to use different products. So let them know if you're the same. The pans were all non-stick, and they were scratched, which releases the harmful elements in non-stick pans. Others may not care about this, but I do. I wish there would have been a few stainless steel options for cooking. Obviously, I dealt with it. The oven had a burning smell when we tried to use it, so we opted to prepare our meals other ways. That may have abated with use. We did have a snafu with our checkin - we arrived after 5pm and keys for another date were on the board. That took a few phone calls and about half an hour to sort out. The woman who handled it was lovely, she came over from her house and solved the problem. Once we were at the house, it was a non-issue.
