Aspen View - Queen

Very generous use of kitchen upstairs and friendly owner. Relaxed check out time and super comfortable bed!

Well, we stayed there for 3 nights and were quite confused about the accommodation, not knowing what we could use, such as towels or utensils. We didn't have a reception. On the last day of our stay, a guy showed up, who I believe was a host, but he didn't even speak to us. The door of the house is always open, and we were worried about security, the door is kept open because they have a cat. I can't complain about the cleanliness. However, I expected more.

Aspen View is a beautiful home, set into a steep hillside overlooking the lake. Our room had a patio door opening onto a pretty little garden; guests also have shared access to a lovely upstairs sitting-room with balcony and full lake view. We had very early start times for our coach tours and were unable to meet our host, Honor, during our stay but she communicated with us freely and was very helpful with checking-in etc., and local recommendations. We have no hesitation in recommending Aspen View and enjoyed our stay very much.

This is NOT a "dislike" but be aware that access to the property is down a very steep drive followed by a set of even steeper steps (no handrail) into the garden and patio door entrance. The property is quite a distance from the centre of Queenstown, too; the nearest bus stop is up a steep hill and not for the faint-hearted struggling with heavy luggage! We recommend a taxi!

The view from the upstairs was great. The bath and shower were great. The house sitter, Patrice was great.

I was told upon my arrival that my hostess was leaving in a few minutes and would be away for a week and that there would be a house sitter. I felt disoriented. This is a lovely condo on four levels built on the hillside overlooking the lake. The guest rooms are down at the bottom, which means a walk down a very steep driveway resembling a canyon and then down 45 additional steps to a garden outside two bedrooms. For a guest with any mobility issues this place is a real challenge. The room was decent but my mattress was worn out. This rental of rooms in the house is obviously a business, but there was no assistance negotiating the terrain. I was left to figure stuff out on my own. The price was high for how difficult it was to get in and out of this property. It was a physically comfortable space but not emotionally.
