One of those special places you don’t know where to start a review…
Let’s briefly set the scene: we were traveling around Tuscany, picking up a rental car in Pisa, purposely going off the ‘tourist trail’ having seen majority of ‘attractions’ on our respective OE’s previously.
At the end of our Italian travels, we wanted to base ourselves somewhere near an airport to jump to Greece’.
Our main criteria was simple, bit of culture, local experiences, easy access to explore local towns and explore the Italian food delicacies the northern regions had to offer.
Accommodation: we found De Le Casa in Modena. Self contained, top floor ‘apartment’, with kitchenette, dining table, and couch, bedroom with large bed, bedside table and lamps, plus ample storage, and a bathroom with shower, toilet, bidet, basin and towel rack. Very well presented, clean, air conditioner, perfect for our needs; was on 2nd floor so you need to carry bags up, wasn’t an issue but worth noting.
Accommodation ‘additions’: Access to washing-machine (5 euro), swimming pool, loungers, grass area, seating area/s, smoking area (separate, wonderful idea being non smokers), poolside toilet facility, and easy access to walking and biking track (access via gate across grass area).
Hosts: Wow !! Beautiful couple (plus Nina, Rudy, and Alegra - collie & 2 sausage dogs) - if you were to wish for an Italian experience, with hospitality that you think you can only read about, think again, this is the place to stay!
Andrea, wonderful man who loves practicing his English, willing to sit, chat and share anything and everything, including home made wine and balsamic vinegar and stories of his travels. Friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable about the area, especially when it came to looking to try different & local food.
Sabrina, a surprise package!!
