I loved the friendly environment that the B&B provided. Breakfast was great too! Loved staying in a traditional Japanese style home.

"Passable"

5.0

Good environment and friendly staff, but there were other guests who were still noisy and taking a shower at 1 a.m. The hotel failed to stop them, which ruined the wonderful experience.

Because of the poor sound insulation, the hotel should intervene in the unruly guests, which will affect everyone.

"A traditional Japanese home experience with a tatami mat floor and futon beds."

6.0

We enjoyed a traditional Japanese ryokan home experience with a lovely room, a tatami mat floor and futon beds. It was based in a quiet suburb of Kyoto about 8 minutes walk from the metro station and well linked to several parts of the city, though there wqere no attractions in the immediate vicinity. Laundry service was available for about £2.50 which was very helpful.

Overall this was a disappointing experience. We had hoped to experience living in a Japanese home for 3 days and nights. Unfortunately it felt a bit more like a continental hostel, with reception and breakfast looked after by French and American ex-pats who are staying and working for free whilst also working other jobs in Kyoto. Breakfast felt like a bit of an after-thought and fell well short of either a traditional experience or the standards of food served elsewhere on our trip. We never met anyone Japanese through the duration of our stay. Services such as local culture classes and cooking classes advertised on Booking.com website were not on offer.

"Good over-all beutiful property suited to couples not families."

6.0

Property was beutiful location was great. Introductory Sake night was a highlight very memorable experiance.

Wahing machine was just outside our room, and it was running until late every night. Bath towels were sometimes in short supply. Futons were very thin, we have stayed in multiple properties with futons however these were the most uncomforatable (Very thin). No suited for a family stay.

"Very good and will stay again - would be very interested maybe also as a volunteer in the future when I visit Kyoto for"

9.0

Loved the bed and breakfast and staff were great. Loved how they renovated the place! Already recommended the place to a friend and will keep doing so!

Because of it being old I can definitely heat the next door neighbors very well which can make it feel I don’t have much privacy. But thats what comes with an old house so can’t say there’s much that can be done for that. Also I feel the futon is a little bit thin - would be nice to have an extra layer if possible.

"Traditional Japanese house"

8.0

Chie was so nice and helpful. I had issuses with my train and she helped me over the phone. The house is lovley and so cute and traditional. I had a room aginst the street and you could here the traffic from cars during the night and the futon madrass was very thin.

"Beautiful small B&B"

9.0

Nice tatami rooms with beds much more comfortable than you‘d think at first. Heating/AC available in all rooms. Very nice owners (+young expats running the service) who organize small events and take great care of every need from breakfast to washing clothes.

We needed a day or two to accommodate in the tiny room and to the colder weather - but that‘s more the western comfort that we are taking for granted already.
