Wild Weka Eco Stay - Off-Grid 4WD Recommended

This is an amazing property with million dollar views. We loved our stay at Wild Weka and wished we had longer to stay. You would never know you were living off the grid with the degree of luxury this house has. It is beautifully decorated but the real beauty is outside the numerous windows where the beaches, ocean and sunset dazzle. Em, our host, even opened up her wonderful organic gardens to us and we truly enjoyed the fresh leafy greens.

The location is simply fantastic with a view of the coast.

We had a magical stay at Wild Weka. The location superseded all our expectations. The site of this property is unimaginable with unsurpassed views of the ocean and the peace and quiet uncanny. The trip to get to the property is so enchanting and travelling north from here is jaw dropping. Wish we could have stayed longer. The house is beautifully designed within the landscape and as a guest you will want for nothing. What a credit this house is for tourism in the West Coast of New Zealand. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.

Beautiful location. Great gardens. Drive is very steep and definitely good if your have 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive. Managed well with RAV4

No way to shut out light or keep warmth in. Had cool nights and found one fireplace heater insufficient to keep us warm. Wore socks. Coats and mittens! Some type of shade to lower when you desire dark. Had a bad headache one day and could not find the required “dark space” to rest. Bring eye covers!!

The property has a wow factor from its location and outstanding views as well as the modern layout and interior surrounded by lovely gardens. It was lovely being secluded and totally private. We used the hot tub in the garden, which was a lovely quirky addition and we enjoyed eating the vegetables that were ripe from the garden. The beds were comfortable and the downstairs shower was excellent. Beautiful, eco organic toiletries and other products were provided to ensure the septic tank works correctly. Be aware that as the property is off grid there is no dish washer, tumble dryer, TV or air conditioning, which was fine with us. Wifi connectivity was excellent.

There were no curtains or blinds to shade the inside from the heat of the sun during the day and as it was a full moon when we were there, masks were required because the nights were also too light. The main bedroom upstairs was particularly hot so windows had to be opened. Fly screens on the windows would have been useful. It would have been useful to have some smaller pans for cooking. The gravel drive is very steep and a 4WD vehicle is recommended, albeit, that we managed it with an automatic Corolla!

Great views, very quiet place to get away.

Uncomfortable sofa, springs had gone. No curtains so woke as soon as it was light 5:45am, not great when you are on holiday. House was great but definitely was un-finished. Not as luxurious as the price implies.
