Host & Stay - Upper Duke Street Apartment

How clean the property was, the decor was lovely and considering there was 12 of us we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other.

There was only one set of keys between 12 of us, so we had to keep going down 3 flights of stairs to let people in when the group did things separately. The outside of the property and the hallways could do with a refurb as it doesn’t look very appealing until you actually get into the apartment.

Lounge area and good size bedrooms

It’s a lovely spacious apartment that offered so much more than I was anticipating. It’s quite a special place once you’re in.

The entrance through the house is little concerning when you first arrive. I assume that the property is being modernised bit by bit. Once you’re in the apartment though, it really is very good. I was also a little annoyed by the request for a security deposit after I’d booked. This should be advertised up front.

The apartment was well located and was very comfortable. We had everything we needed in the apartment and it had obviously been recently refurbished to a high standard.

The apartment was on the 3rd floor and the shared stairwell to the apartment was very shabby (to be honest, we were worried about where we had booked until we walked through the apartment door). The stairs to the bedrooms on the top floor of the apartment were extremely steep and one of our group had mobility issues so this proved to be an issue. Both bathrooms were upstairs so they had to go up the stairs. I would not recommend that anyone with mobility issues books this apartment and would suggest that there is a warning in the booking information.

The property is a great location to the city and amenities

Space for 8 people and facilities were good.

Stairs - 3rd floor. Communal areas damp, smelly and not pleasant. Felt like a student house! Bathrooms on top floor up very steep, dangerous stairs. There is a nail sticking up on the second step from the bottom. Generally clean but door frames, skirtings, windows etc. very dusty and dirty.
