"Nice cottage in rural location close to Lytham/St. Annes and Ribby Hall"

8.0

Cottage is in a great location for Ribby Hall. There was a dance competition that weekend and Ribby was too expensive/didn't have what we needed available. The cottage was comfortable enough for our stay, kitchen is compact but we were using it as a base and therefore not cooking. Lounge spacious enough for 4 of us. Bedrooms were fine, wardrobe and drawers and bedside tables in them along with bedside lights. Bathroom was ok, large shower and large towel rail to dry towels. Its a short walk into the village centre where there is a Spar shop (incl post office) for essentials, a pub, restaurant and bistro (didn't use them so can't rate). The place has a nice rural feel to it, but its a short trip/drive to Lytham/St. Annes - 15 mins There is a bus stop for the bus to St Annes (service 76 at time of writing) literally outside the house. The stop for buses to Blackpool is a stones throw away. There is a railway station (for St Annes/Blackpool South, and further afield via Preston) at Moss Side but its just too far (about 1.8 miles from the property) to walk. There is a space to park at the rear of the property but only usable if you have a Fiat 500 or similar sized car, impossible to reverse in or out with anything larger, really need to park on the road. Cozy Pads who manage the property were great, there was a minor issue that they rectified straight away and communicated well with us.

Minor things - there was no info pack (or it wasn't visible) to explain about the heating - had to work it out myself as it was turned right down (makes sense between stays) and would have been too cold at the setting it was at. Bathroom could do with a mat for getting out of the shower, and water does get on the floor from the shower, from splashes. We used a spare towel to dry the floor but a dedicated mat would have been better. Minor niggle - there were plenty of power points in the cottage but in the bedrooms they were behind the bed, so if you wanted to charge your phone overnight then you had to plug it in elsewhere. Not the end of the world but would have been nice to have the points more accessible. Not an issue, more of a heads-up to visitors, a feature of these cottages is that the stairs are more steep than normal, just be careful ascending and descending!

Great location, pub in village was lovely

Beds and sofas aren’t very comfortable. The property management company aren’t good - sent me loads of check in emails beforehand which was actually just text where they hadn’t filled in the blanks, different codes for different hours for the key lock box - overcomplicated. Having to send a security deposit which they didn’t return in a timely manner, it felt like they wanted to find a reason to keep the money.
