The Joplin House - Austin - Zilker Park Studio

The apartment was very clean well-appointed: I liked that they had salt, pepper, sugar, and cooking oil in the kitchen--though, maybe add a colander for straining pasta cold: good AC ample space for hanging and storing luggage nice sheets and towels very functional kitchen shower gets very hot and has good water pressure, though the head is a little low, so not ideal for tall travelers quiet neighborhood, set back from the street

I am not sure the owners thought about how a person traveling would need to function or how different people have different needs. There are no dressers to put clothes in or a luggage rack-- the table that is on the wall by itself could be replaced with a simple dresser and this would radically improve the experience All the internet routers are exposed, for someone that needs complete darkness to sleep, this is a consideration, perhaps, buy a cabinet/dresser and put the internet stuff in there There is only one nightstand with a lamp that takes up most of the usable space, and the lamp is difficult to turn on and off for people that have difficulty with their hands. Perhaps a nightstand for each side of the bed with small touch lamps The desk, while functional, has very sharp edges that cut my leg There is no table to eat at. There is space, perhaps move the fake plant, put the desk there, and then you'd have space for a bistro set with two chairs near the kitchen area I know it is out of the owners control, but the toilet being so that it is difficult for a normal sized person to comfortably sit and not bang their arms on the wall and also being very low would be a consideration for some travelers. The bed is not very comfortable and is a lot lower to the ground than in the photos (it is a different bed frame than is shown in the photos); the mattress had very little support. I ultimately left a day early because I could not sleep at all. No blackout curtains. It is relatively dark but still, some people need total darkness.

Location was good for what we needed. This was a work trip, and it was close to where we needed to be for the week. That's about the only positive experience we had.

The keys were very difficult to find upon arrival. Before arriving I received many messages from 3 different people, all saying more or less the same thing (though some messages left out key information). When I got there, the towels weren't clean, and the place just wasn't that nice. For the price though, I guess that's what it is. I ended up moving to a hotel. When I called the number I was given, not even to fight about anything, just to let him know I was leaving, The property manager got VERY defensive and was quite rude. I requested a refund for the days I didn't stay, but was denied, on the grounds that "the bathroom door was kicked off it's hinges." Which wasn't true. Not a great experience with the staff over.
