3 Bedroom House in Brae

Perfect location for visiting family and short walk to the shop which is great with young kids

Geen handleiding om TV te kijken. Eigenaar heeft wel geholpen maar een klein instructieblad had wel gemogen. Niet iedereen woont in de UK en kent de SKY module. Er waren geen stoelen om buiten te zitten. Ruimte van droger was vuil. Ramen waren al weken zoniet maanden niet gekuisd.

No information in the house regarding local facilities (ie, nearest GP, petrol pumps, places to eat,shop etc) no instruction manuals or where to put rubbish on departure. TV did not work - no signal Crockery very unattractive, especially the tea/coffee mugs No wine glasses

The WiFi worked well and was fast and the property is in a good location for access to other parts of the island. The bed linen and bathrooms were clean. There is adequate parking and the coop is right next door for food supplies.

This property seriously needs some refurbing. The blinds/screens on the windows are woeful. In the bedrooms the blinds are frayed, dirty and don't keep out the light which is pretty essential in Shetland. The kitchen cupboards were grimy and there are barely any pans. The pans that are there are old and too small. There are no wine glasses and I had to go to buy a corkscrew! The motley selection of kitchen utensils and cutlery were inadequate. The beds were hard and in the second bedroom there is absolutely nothing in which to store clothing. Just a bed in a room with two bedside tables and no room to even put your suitcase on the floor! The height of the bathroom shower could not be adjusted so it's perfect unless you are taller than a ten year old. The bath was very slippy as it is old. The television is complicated in that it is difficult to find the input source. Some instructions would have been helpful. When we arrived the heating was on full blast in the bedrooms which was odd considering it is the middle of summer. It was boiling and as they are night storage heaters it took almost 24 hours for them to cool down completely. Toilet rolls were provided but no tablets or conditioner for the washing machine. We had a small drinks spillage on the throw on the sofa but I was not about to buy a whole pack of powder and conditioner to wash one item so I left it. There is a small view of the sea from the back of the house between two other properties but the front just looks at the coop and an industrial premises across the road. What was particularly galling is that I noticed a previous guest had commented on the dreadful blinds and the slippery bath but the owner has done nothing about it. This property was not good value for money sadly.

The location was good as was quite central which helped with visiting locations during the stay.

The property could have been cleaner as there was dust on the shelves and on the tv unit around the sky box. The top of the microwave was covered in sticky residue. Would have liked there to have been a shower mat in the en-suite shower as the base was not non slip and extremely slippery.

The shower in the en-suite was well thought out and functional. The Internet connection was also reliable and fast. There were tourist info flyers about the main attractions in Shetland.

Sleeping comfort: The curtains are far too thin - from 4am (end of May) it is as bright as day in the room, as if there were no curtains at all. Definitely problematic for restful sleep. Service and communication: The contact with the host was mixed. It was possible to check in earlier (plus point!), but unfortunately there were no answers to technical questions. Facilities: The vacuum cleaner was very weak and there was no guest information about the house - neither about waste disposal nor about other practical things.
