Homely Ensuite Room near City Centre

Great house, very clean, nice location (there are fantastic walking trails nearby and lots of great cafes), very responsive hosts.

The 4" gap at the bottom of my bedroom door did not meet my expectations for privacy. Apart from this, it was great! Maybe they have replaced door by now.

Having the big ensuite room at the top was a godsend, no queueing for the shared bathroom. The toiletries, sponge and tea towel left in the room were a nice touch. We got really lucky because some of the other guests we spoke to were very friendly and of a similar age to us so we felt a lot more comfortable than we potentially could have. The location was good, easy to get into Manchester or Stockport on bus or train and near shops, takeaways and a few cute cafés/bars. Compared to the previous shared place we stayed, this one was a LOT better, so if you're looking for shared temporary accommodation for a few weeks while finding a flat, you could do a lot worse.

With 2 guests staying in pretty much every room, and people constantly coming and going, and checking in and out, it could feel a bit hectic at times. There'd be no way of us knowing whether someone we saw was a new guest or a potential intruder. In the dining room a lot of the chairs were broken, and this space was always taken up by people drying their clothes, towels and sheets – the property could really do with a tumble dryer. The kitchen was well equipped but there wasn't enough space for everyone to cook at the same time, so it was luck as to whether you got to cook when you wanted. The bins in there were comically tiny, not sure why they didn't have a proper sized kitchen bin! The carpets and decoration throughout was a bit tired, lots of wear and tear, but generally acceptable.

It was very quiet and peaceful. Very comfortable bed, room as expected. The staff was very friendly, respectful, and responsive.

The garden area could do with some landscaping and maybe a sitting area, more plants etc. Especially in the summer..
