The Heathcock Boutique Hotel - Room 3

Location close to cathedral for a concert we were attending. Comfy large bed. Gorgeous bathroom. Lovely towels. Nice big TV. Pub downstairs.

The stairs up to the room! No close secure parking.

The staff were friendly and the room clean and comfortable. The restaurant served interesting food, although the lamb was cooked unusually with no indication on the menu and not to my taste (not charged on the bill). Wine was similarly an unusual selection. Pleasant atmosphere.

However there are drawbacks to stating that this 'pub with rooms' ranked as a 'Boutique Hotel'. Access to the bedrooms were up 2 long flights of steep narrow stairs, no lift, which was a struggle at best and impossible to those less mobile. There was no breakfast available on site; there were supposed to be vouchers available in the room for use at the bakery and cafe shop 5 mins walk down the road but none provided. Pub was on the street with no nearby parking.

A lovely room and bathroom, a genuinely first-class meal with lovely staff, and a great, friendly and lively bar to boot.

Room 3 is at the front of the property on a main road. The windows are not double glazed and so there is road noise.
