Hidden gem - great location

Many photo tourists - like everywhere in Vietnam 🥲, very “simple” accommodation

The place is picturesque! It is Instagram perfect, ideal for photos. There are many great spots to relax and beautiful decorations all around. But the sea is not ideal for swimming due to the seaweed. The sand in the sea is rather "mushy", kind of muddy and therefore our kids didn't like it. On the other hand, we all loved the pool just beside the see, which was build in the natural rock inside it. The restaurant served tasty food, though quite pricy. Overall, it is a beautiful place with nice staff. But it is not ideal for swimming or building sand castles, it is rather suitable for sunbathing, taking amazing pictures, enjoying sunset and picturesque location.

We tried to use provided canoes, they were full of dirty water and trash. There was some rubbish in the sea and on the beach as well. The partially-open bathroom concept is very romantic, but as this eco-resort is surrounded by nature, you have to expect various kinds of insects in the bathroom. It was not welcomed enthusiastically by our kids to see huge spider, big centipede and cockroach in the night...

Bungalows are very old and the beds are not recommended

The location is gorgeous, very much off the beaten track though so keep in mind. A somewhat steep walk down to reception and rooms from the road but they helped bring the bags down/up which was nice. Staff very friendly and helpful but English was a bit limited (which was fine we expect that). The free kayaking was fun! However there was a lot of rubbish so the views were a bit sad (but still beautiful). The grounds keepers do a lot of cleaning of the beach which is nice and for swimming it was wonderful. Their resident dog was also very friendly and would walk us back to our room! Very sweet Being vegan we were worried about food but thankfully they were very accommodating for us so we had no problems, the Chilli lemongrass Tofu was divine! For a few days of relaxing we couldn't recommend this place enough!

The room was a bit small and the bed quite hard (harder than most places in Vietnam) and there was a lot of gaps in the wood panelling so a lot of ants got into our room and on our belongings, they don't sell any insect repellent so hard to keep them away.

Best thing about this place is the view, the clean beach, the many little spots to hang out and enjoy the view. The staff is quite friendly.

Make sure to get a new bungalow. The old ones are very dirty, old, not kept up to date, should not be rented out anymore (or not at that price). In general, the facilities looked quite poorly maintained. The food is just ok. You can hear quite some noise from the airplanes, and the nearby boats.

Cha Bong (Meat floss) - is the dearest little dog you'll ever meet, and she resides full time at the resort. The location is private and incredibly beautiful. The grounds are maintained to an adequate standard.

It's a very Vietnamese resort in that there seems to be a lack of central management, but people do know their jobs, and conduct them to a pretty basic degree of satisfaction (as well as they know how to do their job). They really just need to take better care of structures around the property; I find it quite distressing to see such a nice place seemingly teetering on the brink of disrepair. Both mornings of our stay were rude awakenings: Morning 1 - the guest staying in our neighboring bungalow checked out early, so instead of waiting till surrounding guests had woken up, staff decided it was a good idea to clean it, meanwhile making a racket and chatting all the while; Morning 2 - perhaps due to an absence of chores, the staff decided to idly hang out right next to our bungalow and chat, waking is up again, in the process.

Friendly staff, we were very well taken care of. Over the ordinary friendliness. Sao Biên was peacefully located away from busy cities and dusty streets. The hotel village is situated on a quite steep slope, ending at a small beach, with different small houses of different sizes. We tried two different rooms and were happy with both. Living close to the sea is of course a personal favorite. We got our room upgraded for no extra cost when we arrived. The hotel was both very calm and with family festivities during valentines, we got to take part of a workshop and saw fireworks! Easy swimming and soft climate during our stay. The food of the restaurant was so varying we had no problem trying new dishes every day. We ate food and drank drinks with ice, vegetables and fruits without getting any problems. Clean and well tended to. As a garden person I love how the plants of the area is tended to. Both cleaning and watering. We got fresh water to drink every day. Everything worked well and we got help getting a ride both from and to the train station. No problems. The dog was super friendly and welcoming too. The kitten, naaaw. ❤️ A big thank you to everybody who made our stay good. A special congratulations to the very nice owner for building a succesful concept. All the best. I hope to see you again!
