"A fairy tale cottage but make sure you leave by 10am sharp or you might be turned into a pumpkin!"

7.0

It was spotlessly clean, quaint and stylish. The bedding was very good quality and it was comfortable. We enjoyed the open fire in the lounge very much.

It was quite cold in the evening and night until the morning when the heating properly kicked in, probably because of the stone floors and, to be fair, it was particularly cold outside - but it’s worth noting that you do need slippers here. Also, some people might struggle getting a suitcase up the narrow steep Georgian stairs. More importantly, the shower was pathetic. It is a cheap old fashioned electric thing. Very disappointing. You want a good shower! This is not a shower to wash your hair with. There are so many beautiful and expensive looking ornaments, mirrors and other accoutrements. Very Laurence Lewellyn-Bowan. Clearly a lot of money thought has gone into styling this place and this has taken priority over the shower - which is a necessity. Most important to note is that checkout is rigidly at 10am. I think it’s mean to make guests leave at 10am on a Sunday morning. Check-in is at 3pm, leaving a 5 hour window between guests departing and new guests arriving and yet there was very little leeway. I had requested a later departure and was flatly refused. So we did our best to get out on time. The owner/manager arrived at 10.20am and was clearly very unhappy that we had not quite finished packing. If you go somewhere to stay over Saturday night and you spend £245 for one night to make it a really comfortable stay, you really don’t want to be getting up early and rushing to get out. You certainly don’t want to be met with a grumpy landlady, scolding you for being 20 mins or even half an hour late getting out. That’s not relaxing! On a Sunday morning you want to leave, feeling that you relaxed and had a restful time. Even though we were out by 10.30 having left the place as clean as we found it we were made to feel like horrible people who had overstayed our welcome. Definitely not a super host.

"Loved our stay and would love to go again."

10.0

The house was fully equipped with everything you would need for a short or long stay.. presented to the very highest standard and felt comfortable and homely…

It’s not a dislike it’s just with an old cottage you need to be aware that the stairs are very steep and could be a problem for older people or children.
