caZÁ ~ Palermo

We come in often to Palermo for a night or two and have gotten lucky with lodgings but this one is truly special. On a quiet little square about 100 meters from Teatro Massimo it's a balcony apartment two flights up above an extraordinary 'pay what you want' used bookstore full of treasures in many languages. The apartment is spotless, charming bohemian style, comfortable, with a new bathroom with excellent shower. Walls freshly painted, everything works, beds are comfortable, housewares new and tasteful, good espresso machine. Our favorite restaurant in Palermo,Ferramenta, is a 5minute walk, there are 2 of Palermo's best museums steps away, plus the puppet theatre up the street, and the bus from Palermo Centrale stops on Via Roma 50 meters away. Despite being so much in the midst of everything the square is silent and the apartmebt silent at night. Very accomodating host, easy to reach. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The apartment was clean and very central so we could do most thing by walking for 20 minutes max. The hosts were super nice and helpful and always responded quickly when we had any questions or needed advice on what to do or where to go. Great accommodation!

My stay at caZÁ Palermo was perfect. I was travelling alone so wanted to feel safe and comfortable, this was exactly that. The apartment had everything I needed. The shower was good - good temperature and pressure. The bed was extremely comfortable, with nice crisp cotton sheets. The doors and windows have a shutter to block out light on them so blocks out all light. It was also very quiet, you are minutes away from the busy markets of Palermo and you wouldn’t know it. Lovely outdoor library with a friendly greeting every morning from the owner. The location was perfect for me. Bus stop a minute away, which takes you to Palermo Centrale, I walked but the bus is there if you want it. I cooked in the apartment as well as eating out. Air conditioning was good too, some are really complicated, this did the job. There is a lovely Forneria on via coltellieri, next to Tini Salvatore’ s Salumeria, both do really nice produce! Last but not least, Ugo the host was extremely helpful with all questions asked, he went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. He bought some lovely pastries as a welcome. There is a cold bottle of water and wine on arrival. He also had a mosquito plug and inserts to go inside, that is usually my first job when I go on holiday, go bur repellent, so the fact it was there was brilliant. I would most definitely come back and stay if ever coming back to Palermo.

This is a fantastic apartment to stay in. Ugo is a fantastic and energetic host who loves Palermo and helped us navigate it. Ugo gave us wonderful local recommendations for lunches and dinners and it was really worth getting away from tourist restaurants for some authentic Sicilian home style cuisine. Ugo took us out for a beer with the locals and it was fun to be around such a vibey group of people. He has renovated his apartment beautifully and there were beautiful vintage details such as the lights and the original tiles in the kitchen teemed with modern conveniences. It’s small but everything has been considered and so there’s a good feeling of space. The location is great as it’s close to all of the sites and the Via Roma stop for local buses and the airport is a 1 minute walk away.

Perfect Location! Quiet! Very nice host!

Clean, nicely laid out, aesthetic and comfy. Air conditioning was great, given how hot and humid it was in Sicily. Host was excellent, and let us store our luggage for the rest of the day after checkout which meant we didn’t need to lug it around the city! Also is located right in the center of Palermo.

Only thing i can think of is the apartment is located in a seemingly sketchy looking block — but it felt totally safe. Went for a stroll at 4am in the area and felt absolutely safe and comfortable!
