Fishermans Rorbu 3 - Lofoten

The fishermans hut is in perfect location: away from the crowds of Reine but close enough to it and to Ramberg as well as a great base for exploring. The terrace is fabulous, and as we were lucky to have a heatwave, we enjoyed sitting outside until late. There is even a 'barrel' sauna, be sure to contact the owner Ronny to arrange to use it! He is a very friendly guy, and a real fisherman! The managing hosts are responsive and very well organised. The place was clean and the kitchen was well equipped.

The ladder to go upstairs is very steep so will not suit those with small children or any mobility issues. And the single beds were quite small (we are a tall family). It would have been great if there was an option to stay downstairs in the living room on, for example, a sofa. It was a shame as due to it being a summer we did not really use the living room and it would have made room for a bigger bedroom! (There is another bed in the kitchen though, so perhaps one can ask to use that one).

nobody met me or ever came to introduce themselves. I stayed there 11 nights, so there was plenty of time to do that. So I guess as long as they get their money that's all that matters which is very sad. The house itself isn't too bad if you don't look too closely, totally outdated, but if you're only there for a couple of days it's no big deal. No curtains or blinds to cover the windows with, so no privacy ( I had some guy walking around in front of my windows ) and especially during the midnight sun and no darkness it was difficult to go to sleep. Not enough towels and especially no floor towel. The kitchen however was disgusting, on first glance everything was ok, but once you open the cupboards it's a whole different story, luckily I always bring my own dishes / silverware. The pots and pans are cheap and dirty, the utensils are gross and also dirty, nothing I would ever use to cook anything with and the stove is so old, I haven't seen anything like that since the 80's. The laundry drying rack is also old and damaged and I tore a shirt on one of the broken off things poking out. since the booking was very short notice I didn't look at the bedroom very closely, big mistake. The bedrooms are upstairs and I have difficulty walking, so going up and down the stairs, was very hard, painful and scary. With how much they charge for that place, they should provide a cleaner place and better equipment. absolutely disappointed 'cause I was looking for something in that location for my next trip, but it will not be this place.

Expected ocean/sea view - just from kitchen window. Bedroom window to the street side, if opened window - noisy.

Functionally equipped accommodation in a good location slightly outside, but close to the towns of Reine, Hamnoy and Ramberg. Good size even for a longer stay with family. Comfortable beds, although a bit narrow in places. Host responded immediately to requests and late arrival was no problem as the key was left in a key box.

The furniture of the apartment was rather old and not so appealing. There was a slight smell of fish in the apartment, which betrays its real purpose as a fishing rorbu.
