Fun in the Sun

We loved the view and sitting out on the top porch and the main living area upstairs - nice pleasant decor and space. We likedthecouch area and Netflix available. We liked the BBQ and enjiyed the variety of games downstairs. I liked that there was shower gel etc provided and the top shower location. The master bedroom was very nice - decor, styling cuboard space and view. We enjoyed dinners in the dinning room setting and found everything needed in the kitchen.. The overall location a was good base and enjoyed walks to Cable Bay and Coopers Beach as well as fabulous day trips to Cape Reinga, Tapotaputa, Taipa, Maitai Bay and Matauri Bay, all prestine beaches. Lots of fun in the Sun with pleasing weather and water play for us!

The bunk bed downstairs could be replaced with another more comfortable bed and the bunk perhaps kept for extra sleeping when needed. This would give more options for adults staying (we just had 5 but the bunk was too short - suitable for children) The water pump often makes quite an unpleasant noise even at seemingly random intervals - noise disturbance in the night. The carpet upstairs looks like it was not installed professionally showing lumps. The layout between with the main thoroughfare between the living area, stairs and kitchen lends itself to toes kicked on the half (the first day 3 of us did this as not recognized the hazzard) the stairs are quite steep and creepy and some finishes could be better maintained. I would have loved to use the kayaks but the steep driveway and distance uphill from the local beaches meant this was not viable unless you could fix them to your vehicle. Overall though I would describe this as a great holiday home/large batch with nostelgic charm 😀

Its not an ultra modern place but its clean, comfortable and decked out for friends and families to have a fun and relaxing stay. We would definitely stay here again!

The views were stunning, the house was clean and welcoming, it was a home away from home. Very quiet neighborhood and we had the best sleep, in fact we didn't go anywhere other than the shop for the first day & a half. The couches are comfortable upstairs and downstairs. The driveway is steep but not a problem for our auto van. We parked in the garage and were able to unpack without getting drenched by the rain. Our 4 yr old grandson loved it, every day when we open the blinds he would say "wow its beautiful, can we live here ". Theres a petrol station, laundromat & hardware shop just before you turn on to Cable bay block Road. A four square & dollar store in Coopers beach that's a 5 minute drive away. Very friendly people everywhere you go. Kaitaia is 32 kms away and has everything there, Pak n Save, KFC, McD's as well as a hospital with amazing staff. The beach is easy to access and there are playgrounds for the kids to play. A big thank you to the hosts for all the help in operating the tv & air con & for being so accommodating. Our 88 yr old mum really enjoyed her stay, thank you.

Our dislikes were not about the property, more about the wet weather, lack of clean accessible public toilets and not wanting to go home.

Awesome. fully set up for family. Great memories made. Plenty of room for young and old. Definitely recommend, great hosts and location.

Driveway was a little tricky.

Perfect for extended family, we enjoyed our stay definitely recommended.

Location. Value for money. Fireplace- plenty of wood. Cleanliness. Great response and help when phoned for help during power cut.

No information booklet - for Tv etc. No matches and very little newspaper for fire.
