The cottage is in a quiet village in a beautiful location with the river a short walk away. There is so much to do in the area if you like nature/hiking/ and adventure, it has a remote feel but is actually only 20 minutes drive from Arouca, with Alvarenga not much further. It is prefect if you like to feel you’ve escaped and left the mad world behind. We came to the area do the Paiva Walkway and the highest suspension bridge in the world and they did not disappoint! In our 3 days there was nowhere near enough time to do all the wonderful trips and activities in the area. We visited in winter and the house was a little chilly but the wood burner was fantastic and plenty of wood was provided. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we were never cold at night. The WiFi unfortunately did not work but there was good mobile reception so we were fine. We were the first to rent the cottage and understandably there were a few teething issues but Mr António was incredibly responsive and helpful. We would happily rent again, next time in summer because we love wild swimming and there were endless options for beautiful river beaches all to yourself. Finally there was the most polite village cat who visited, we grew very fond of him.
