"Caveat emptor!"

1.0

This place lists the price for low season, but charges for high season, which is close to twice as much! This practice is illegal in The Netherlands, so I filed a report with the relevant authority (ACM). The owner of the place claimed the difference is due to booking.com fees, which is a blatant lie. Also, he claimed I cannot cancel free of charge because of booking.com policies, but a phone call with booking.com confirmed it was the owner who refused. What is advertised as 'tiny house' is no more than a rough wooden contraption. The bathroom looks okay, the 'kitchen' consists of a fridge, a sink and a cabinet of cooking utensils, and the 'bed' is a mattress on top of the bathroom, right under the roof, where a heavier built guest cannot possibly turn himself around. For the claustrofobic, this will feel like a coffin. A simple two-seat couch and a chair complete the interior. No table, no microwave, no tv, not even wifi. As the place is all wood, a single spark will suffice to burn it down; and you can only hope you are not in 'bed', as you don't make a chance to escape the inferno. The area around the mattress is impossible to clean throughly, so it will be a matter of time before the property will be infested with bed bugs. The steps at the door consist of loosely stacked bricks, which will sooner or later kill an elderly guest or two. Needless to say, the place is not accessible by wheelchair. So, I left immediately, and still working on getting my money back. Booking.com is not very helpful in tackling illegal business practice, so I will probable need to rely on legal support. Anyways, I expect a report to the fire department will be sufficient to shut the place down, as it is a fire hazard beyond repair.
