The villa is lovely and we felt very at home in it. We had quite a lot of problems to start with over the first few days but I guess it was early in the season and Ewa who manages the property got everything sorted really quickly - she was excellent and we couldn't have expected more from her. Shame we had the issues but very well managed in sorting them out quickly.

We had a few minor criticisms and a major one. The minor issues were .... its a shame the lounge isn't next to the pool as the owners garage is on the ground floor which we didnt expect as the living area of the rental is on floors above. The steps down from upstairs bedrooms and from the kitchen down to the pool need handrails. Could be a very serious injury if less mobile people stumble on marble and concrete staircases. I wouldn't say the villa is ideal for very old people or the less mobile but we have left the feedback about that and I think the owners will address it. That leaves the one major issue for us which was the incessant barking of dogs all around the villa. Also very close by is a carpenter who is often drilling and sanding. The peaceful stay on sunbeds by the pool which we anticipated was therefore rarely that. There are probably 4 or 5 houses nearby with dogs you can hear barking. It seems the owners in Portugal mostly leave them in the gardens barking all day. Maybe that's the difference i.e. staying in a residential area rather than specifically a holiday let area where maybe there arent so many barking dogs. Anyway the residential area the villa is in is nice enough. Just rarely peaceful if laying by the pool for long. Worst of all the owner next-door had their young dog tied up on a short lead a lot of the day. No wonder that kept barking. Its very cruel and their property is very large so why such a short lead is remarkable and upsetting. See pictures attached of the poor dog next door and the size of property its kept in plus the carpenter work-area at the back of the property. Other than noise issues which may be different at other times of the year, the villa was generally really nice.
