Turnberry House T16 - Selborne Golf Estate

We stayed at Selborne Golf Estate in Pennington and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience with the host, Becky. During our stay, the kids accidentally spilled Coke and cranberry juice on the linen. While we fully expected some deduction from our deposit, the way this was handled was completely unreasonable. Our deposit was R2000, and R1600 was taken for “new bedding,” including additional charges for the host’s travelling costs. We were later told we could collect the old bedding. Out of curiosity, we went to fetch it to see how bad the stains really were. What we received was shocking. The bedding smelled terrible and clearly had not been washed at all, despite being told that the cleaners had attempted to wash it three times and that the stains “would not come out.” This raised serious concerns about honesty and fairness in the charges. Accidents happen, especially with children, but guests should be treated fairly and transparently. Charging almost an entire deposit for what appears to be unwashed linen is unacceptable. Sadly, this experience has left a very bad impression, and we would not recommend this chalet based on how this situation was handled.

Loved how friendly and always available the host was. The tranquility and nature that surrounds this estate. It's perfect for a family outing it feels like home and has all the utensils available.

When we arrived, the area was experiencing an electricity issue completely outside the host’s control but they had thoughtfully provided lamps throughout the villa. The municipality really needs to get its act together; these outages are affecting local businesses. Aside from that, we absolutely loved everything about the villa. Thank you, Becki!

We loved the surrounding area, and being able to relax and be active in a safe environment. I highly recommend the Faye Barker trail, such a fabulous walk (4.5km) through lush greenery.

The house is lovely, but unfortunately the wifi was down during our visit (no fault of the host). A coffee machine of any description would have been great.
