Yr Hen Efail - Quirky Old Smithy cottage near forest walks, cycling & lakes

It had everything we needed and they had thought of even the little things. Very clean and I really perfect location for local walks classic north wales routes. Love the cosy and comfortable setting, bed super comfy, made our furry friend super welcome as well. Host’s amazing and friendly, nothing too much hassle if needed.

The hosts greeted us on arrival and were extremely welcoming and friendly. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and spacious. It is in a great location with easy access to Lake Vrnwy where we were attending a wedding. Perfect for couples or friends.

The road by the house was quite busy and traffic woke us during the night. We found cooking on the high hobs challenging. The shower temperature was either scalding or cold; we could not manage to get a comfortable temperature. We did not raise this as we had a short stay; I have no doubt hosts would have rectified this for us.

It was exactly what we were looking for. We were looking for a place that was quiet but comfortable, and somewhere to recharge our batteries from our busy lifestyle. The bed was comfortable and warm the kitchenette was a little small but manageable lovely bathroom. And the hosts where lovely and welcoming. Beautiful scenery and lovely walks. A car is a must to get to some places, the little cafe/ convince shop is a short drive that does a wonderful breakfast (badger cafe) and in there shop they sell amazing local welsh cakes . A perfect stay cation to unwind and reconnect.

There isn't anything we didn't like, but maybe a few tweaks to make the stay even better. The sofa bed that we used as a sofa isn't the comfiest and the position of the TV and sofa make your neck hurt, we found ourselves sitting at the dinner table most of the time to watch TV in the evenings. The floor in the bathroom is super cold you can't go in there without slippers or shoes on. And maybe putting the basket for the doggie blankets a little more visible if you know the guests are bringing there pooches.

Beautiful, quaint and homely…perfect for a romantic getaway. Beautiful surroundings. Spotlessly clean… everything provided. Attention to detail. Very welcoming and helpful….left us a lovely welcoming gift.

It was perfect, the cottage has everything we needed plus some thoughtful additions from the hosts.

Property itself was nice but difficult to find took us some time to find

Property is in middle of nowhere, walks, cycling etc activities must be nearby but in wet conditions you have to just sit in the house . Check in was @15:00 but we reached there @16:00 looking for it , host were welcoming but the house was freezing cold. Electric radiators were there still it took some time to warm up. It could have been nicer if switched them on time for check in .
