A gem of a apartment - compact but everything new and could see the sea in the distance. We would have stayed longer but it was only available for 2 nights.

A dishwasher wiuld have been useful.

We loved it and we would stay again. The host is an amazing person and the place is very nice and welcoming. Thank you for your hospitality and the nice little extras provided.

Unfortunately we are giving it a 9 rating, because of the heating issue that hopefully got fixed right after our departure.

We had a great stay, Maydene was perfect for our short stay and had everything we needed. It's a short drive from Kirkwall and central for all the other attractions. The bed was comfortable and the ensuite toilet was large with an excellent shower.

We loved our 3 nights at Maydene. Handy to Kirkwall but away from the main drag, it was a perfect home away from home. Ellen is a perfect hostess, going that little bit extra when we needed help. View over Scarpa Flow was a real treat.

It would have been helpful to have had written directions as Maydene was not easy to find.

We chose to be away from town. Rural was good for us and only short drive to ammenities with a car. Well equipped, and the supplied bread and milk were appreciated nice touch. Very clean and well maintained with homey touches.

Could really use a French press for coffee. A plug in bathroom for hair dryer would be great. Allergy sensitivity so fragrance in sheets and air fresheners were removed.

This place is fantastic! It's a modern and cozy little burrow with a fantastic view overlooking the hills and sea, not far from Kirkwall and very close to the Italian Chapel and Churchill barriers. It's really all you could wish for as a temporary home to explore the beautiful Orkney islands. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a very comfortable bed, and a very spacious shower. The interior is held in modern Scandi design, and the apartment is super clean. Ellen is a wonderful host who even provided for some milk, bread, and butter, which was so nice! We came to Orkney from the Aberdeen ferry, so we arrived shortly before midnight, but the late check-in was no issue at all. Thank you, Ellen, for this wonderful experience. I can 100% recommend and would not book anywhere else!
