The worst hotel experience I’ve had in Japan! This is a tourist trap. This is not a hotel that even deserves 2 stars. The furniture is extremely old, and even the bedding feels like it’s a hundred years old. The private onsen in the room smells so bad that it’s impossible to use. There is limescale buildup everywhere around it, and the whole area feels neglected and poorly maintained. I honestly don’t understand how this hotel has a 4-star rating. Please be careful and avoid this place.

A wonderful ryokan located a short distance from Kurokawa Onsen, so a little quieter. Outstanding kitchen serviing generous ryokan-style meals. Huge rooms with private hot baths.

This is a traditional ryokan experience.

Really impressed with the level of service here. The staff were kind, attentive, and genuinely caring about details. They helped us with the transfer from the bus stop, explained everything clearly, and even helped us pick the right size yukata for the onsen. The surroundings are scenic and peaceful. We took the half-board option and both meals were excellent, the dinner especially, with a wide variety of delicious dishes. Very professional and polite staff who helped us with anything we needed. The room itself was also great, spacious, with a private onsen and a terrace. Slept very well. Overall a wonderful stay.

The environment was beautiful and calm, very relaxing! We very much liked and enjoyed the private Onsen. The food was not the best we have had, but absolutely ok. I suppose the food is very traditional, which is reasonable!

The stay is well overpriced!!

This place is a real paradise in the middle of the woods near the river. We enjoyed the hot pools and also the private pools in the very comfortable rooms. The food was fantastic, beautifully presented and served. An extra bonus were the hiking trails nearby which we could reach on foot. Staff was lovely and helpful and even spoke a little English. The price was higher than the other Ryokans, but it was worth every penny.

Not much. Maybe deck chairs on the balcony would have been nice to be able to relax outside after a dip which is pretty much the only thing I can think of.
