Listen, I went all the way to Paul Roux and the host had no room for us. He said that Booking.com never informed him of our arrival and neither did he receive the money. Apparently he communicated with Booking.com of the closure of his facilities. I want my money back please. I was stranded in the middle of no where. I want my money back

I had no access to the property. Owner's facility was not available. I traveled and was stranded

When I enquired about the WiFi with Louise, the host, I was decided to contact Hannes Swartz, the owner. It seems the booking.con profile is incorrect! Hannes said I should switch on the main for the WiFi to work however there was no modem and the little satellite dish was in the roof outside. All of which I have photos. Hannes then went on to say he has raised this with the It department and finally said the router was in the apartment next door. He then enquired if I was the person who booked into the accommodation - what an insult. It seems Hannes doesn’t have his finger on the pulse regarding his property as I’ve made a short list of what we observe in our short stay of less than 24 hours: 1. WiFi not available 2. Bottom oven not working. 3. Basin in the kitchen wasn’t connected to a drain and water drained in the cupboard which houses a gas cylinder. 4. Lamp bulbs were blown or weren’t in the lamps. 5. Passage light in the ceiling wasn’t working. 6. Dishwasher wasn’t coupled to a drain - the hose was side the machine so we thought the machine was there for show. 7. No mention of mosquito bug spray and the place was crawling with them. 8. Upon arrival around 4pm, we opened the lounge windows to get fresh air and there was a bat inside the lounge. We tried to guide it out but it eventually flew behind the fire place. 9. There must have been a leak in the one bedroom and the muck ran down the wall even over a picture frame - surely Louise and Hannes and the cleaner would notice this as it’s very evident! 10. There was no tv and the profile says there is. The only thing that remains is the bracket the tv may have been on and a lamp is now position in the space. 11. Duvet was in a chair and not in the duvet cover as per photos.

We enjoyed the big old house and found it comfortable. It's currently up for sale and an ideal purchase for a renovator. We enjoyed the verandah and feel of the old house.

The lady that we eventually got hold of to let us in, Louise, had not checked iur booking and only expected us the following day, despite us reminding her that it was our 17th anniversary. People had slept in the house the day before, and she told us just to close the bedroom door where they had slept and sleep in the other room. Dirty linen, dirty towels, dirty dishes in the sink. We waited outside whilst she cleaned up a bit. She then couldn't get the gas going and called her husband on speaker phone, who we could hear uttering profanities. Totally unacceptable. Had it not been for Louise. We would have given this house an 8/10.

Excellent host Louise and hubby Gys-lovely folk, house is an oldie but was clean and well furnished, my little one loved the space and especially the old 'ball and claw' bath tub, perfect for an over night stay in this very old relic

The room felt dusty. there was water damage in the room, no hand soap available and one of the door leading to the outside could not lock or stay closed. One had to use a table to keep it closed and safe. Not what we imagined

Interesting decor.

The house is in a very poor condition. There are cracks in the walls and holes in the floor. The ceiling sags and it has a creepy feel. The linen was old and the pillows were stained and very tired under the pillow cases. We weren't told that the towns water gets switched off at 5pm and the property has no alternative supply like a Jojo. If we'd known we would have stayed elsewhere. The security was very poor. I would avoid this place going forward.
