Cas’ A Mare - Beachfront Luxury Suites

The owners have done a really good job of fitting out the rooms which were absolutely spotless with everything we needed and the staff and communication throughout was very good and indeed the amount of information about the area, restaurants, transportation etc was excellent. There is a beautiful sea view from the balcony but see comments below. We are so glad we came to Salerno which was primarily to visit the Greek/Roman site of Paestum which far exceeded expectations, enjoyed a great pizza at beach club directly opposite and great dinner on our 2nd night in the Old Town.

The property is located a good 50 minute walk from Salerno Old Town(though the bus stop to/from very close by and newer part of town closer) in an area that is somewhat tired seaside resort focussed on domestic not international tourist market. The building the apartments are located in is very tired but again I reaffirm the apartments and its dedicated reception area on the 2nd floor is pristine and the area was safe. However, below the balcony is the main coast road (one way system) out from Salerno which during the day is constantly busy and in early hours sounds like a race track. We were lucky both nights we stayed to get a parking spot on the main road virtually opposite.

The beds, oh the glorious beds! They were incredibly comfortable which was a huge surprise and very welcomed. The entire room had been recently renovated and was very well done and comfortable was front of mind. Our host was gracious and helped arrange taxi pick ups for the train station and even helped with providing us with the ferry schedule and recommendations while staying in Salerno.

Everything was excellent

Location, transport, cleanliness, comfort, communication.

This room was on the second floor overlooking the beach. It was lovely just sitting out on the veranda with a glass of wine, watch the locals swimming in the sea and going about their daily lives. The view toward the Amalfi coast was inspirational, with the clouds dropping down over the rugged peaks. Francesca was fantastic, giving us instructions on getting from the main Railway station to the property and were and what number buses to catch to get to the port. The workmen in the street who helped us move our bags over the rough pavement stones, with a smile and greeting us in obviously in Italian.

Nothing really, we found a good restaurant just opposite. The only downside was getting ripped off by some toe rag who picked my pocket on the bus to the port..
