Cris & Mar Homestay

Aesthetically the place looked lovely, the room was spacious, it had a fridge, hot water service for the shower, the aircon was cold and bed was large.

The mosquitoes. It was a very uncomfortable stay. We killed about 20 in the bathroom when we arrived, and half an hour later there were 20 more in there and they were making their way into our room. We tried to close the bathroom window but the latch was broken so it wouldn’t completely close, we put tape around the bathroom door to seal it off and we tied the bathroom door to a cupboard to pull it completely shut but none of this stopped the mosquitoes entering the bathroom and our room where we slept. We were up all night killing them and every time we went to the bathroom we would just get swarmed. Showering was impossible. It was extremely uncomfortable getting bitten all night and we decided we could not stay there any longer. We told the staff in the morning and asked for a refund and they were not very helpful and told us to go through booking.com which I did. Booking.com contacted the property and then cris & mar homestay declined to refund us even though we only stayed 1 of the 3 nights we had booked.

It's like a prison cell ... Full of Moskitos, No people available for check-in, no documents, but then want extra money when you leave ... Misogyny included

Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Beautiful garden with a lot of greenery. Perfect atmosphere if you want to get away from the crowds. Lots of areas where you can hang out. Well kept homestead. Helpful and friendly staff.

We had a wonderful stay at Chris and Mar, After a few nights our bungalow felt like home and we ended up extending a few times. The place is in the perfect location for exploring the north, a minute away from the innertube surfing spot and right next to some great restaurants. The owner is a really nice guy and the receptionist is great to. Would definitely recommend 10/10

the outside area is nice but that’s about it …

our room was super humid, moldy and just overall didn’t feel clean. there was no air, we felt like the moldy smell would suffocate us. you can turn the AC on but it doesn’t really do anything, I was sweating in the bed. we were supposed to stay for 3 nights but left after the first one. we don’t need luxury when traveling but this was just not acceptable. also there was no one at the reception just two very confused ladies who didn’t speak english..

We stayed in cabin 8 and after booking for 2 nights we ended up staying for 11 nights as we liked it so much. It’s on a big block with a beautiful garden. Our cabin had everything we needed including our own drinking water dispenser and a kettle. The ac worked really well and even had a communal kitchen we used quite a lot when we didn’t want to go out. With a scooter it’s close to lots of food places including Beshie's Brew & Bites which does a great fish and vegetable curry as well as bbq sticks and whole bbq fish at night. Also enjoyed Ella's Hauz Cafe which was another great value place which does burgers and filo silog meals, I loved the bacon one. Their halo halo is also really nice It’s also close to the beaches and not from Taktak Falls

I like its quaint location and how spacious the room is.

I don't know if it's the bed or the beach that I went to, but I got bites after staying in the room. I hope the owners will do double-checking on the beds.
