Porto Grandeur Collection - D. João IV Pool & Garden Apartment

A lovely apartment, clearly recently done. It was well equipped and comfortable. There was plenty of space to sit inside. Communication prior to and during our stay was exceptional.

The apartment is away from the centre and at the top of the hill, so every day ended with a long 20 minute uphill walk to get home. There is little in the immediate area - most of the restaurants in the helpful little book of the area didn’t exist or were always closed. The downstairs bedroom has no windows (which we knew) but as a result is damp and cold - there is no heating or cooling device, only a dehumidifier. The garden area is small and was not well maintained. We could not use the pool as the pump was not working and it was full of grass and debris, as well as it being very windy. If working it is a nice pool for the summer though.

Well, pity to mention, on the first day american tourists were talking loud on the terrace above us after 24:00, so we had to close windows and fresh air.

The apartment is only a 1 bathroom and a toilet. One bedroom is not a bedroom. It doesn’t have a window and no ventilation or air conditioner/ heating. Only access to the shower is through the main bedroom. Extremely awkward!

Bellissimo appartamento. Tutto di ottima qualità

La piscina non è riscaldata quindi era troppo freddo per usarla. Devi passare per la camera da letto per usare l'unico bagno con la doccia. I vicini di casa hanno bambini piccoli che piangono ed urlano continuamente.

Het appartement was mooi ruim, licht en schoon. Alle faciliteiten waren aanwezig. Er is een prachtig zwembad in de tuin waar wij helaas door het slechte weer geen gebruik van hebben gemaakt.

Wij waren met twee stellen en slechts een slaapkamer heeft een badkamer ensuite. Dat was niet heel handig.

Beautiful airy and spacious apartment with homely touches and great self-catering facilities - the size is deceptive from the entrance! The location is great - in a quiet area but we found it close enough to walk to the city centre each day. Nearby bus stops for trips to the beach and Serralves Museum. Comfortable and clean, with a secluded terrace area and access to the pool (not heated so brace for a cold dip!).

It would be great to have a kettle for boiling water - we boiled a saucepan each day to make cups of tea! Towels had some small stains and there was some water under the bed - we used the dehumidifier as advised.
