Traditional old hotel in a great location. Spacious carpark. Pleasant staff. Comfortable bed.

Having stay here a number of times in the past it was disappointing to see this beautiful old building looking rather tired. The bedroom was in need of refurbishment and a deep clean. The bathroom was scruffy with mould around the bath. Check in was unfortunately very poor as we had to wait 20 minutes for some unknown reason. Come on Greene King refurbish this lovely old hotel. It deserves it!

Food was excellent, staff were all friendly

I didn’t realise the room was located in the attic with no lift access. Based on the hotel photos, I expected the room to be a little larger than the one I stayed in.

Breakfast only from 8am at weekends and reception is closed till then

Location, history car parking. Friendly staff. Good food.

The bathroom needs a refurbishment. Chip on bath enamel, poor repair to tiles, broken fittings, a lot of mould, loose handles to bath. Refreshments tray could be improved. Numerous items on menu unavailable. The whole building could do with some TLC and refurbishment accepting the age of the building.
