The Stone House - Spacious, Central, Modern

House was very spacious. Beds comfy and clean. Nice towels. Two bathrooms. Everything we needed. Very central. Right across from bus station and Morrisons.

Everything was good. Heating was on full blast when we got there but that was sorted straight away. Couch in living room not comfortable and probably could do with a couple of other comfy chairs but didn't ruin our time there as we were out most of the day.

The decor ideas were nice through out and had some lovely features and fittings. Rooms were nice sizes, bathrooms were nicely done again with nice fixtures and decor, reasonable price.

There was no sign to say this property was no1 on any of the doors so took us a little time to find it. Living room sofa was a bit small and uncomfortable there was 5 of us on this stay and only a 2 seater sofa and a chair. paint work was a bit patchy could do with a good paint job. Freezer was broken not ideal in the summer months if you want ice.

The location was good, very easy to get to the castle and gardens and Barter Books. Supermarket nearby and takeaway places for food. Bathroom was nice and big, kitchen was adequate and there were teabags and sugar left. 3 decent sized bedrooms.

The house had a lot of cobwebs throughout and felt a bit unloved, it really wouldn't have taken much effort to make it better. A lick of paint, some comfy chairs/sofa and a whizz round with a feather duster! The windows are old and do nothing to stop the noise from the street which is quite busy with trucks and buses from early morning until late.

Location was great It is a modern house, the kitchen was equipped (needs a corkscrew).....upstairs is spacious, lovely bathroom and ensuite. Owner was very responsive and helpful to queries

There is no where to hang clothes in the twin room. The sitting area is very dark and the seats weren't very comfortable for 6 adults...this has been mentioned before in reviews. One chair was broken. The parking space behind the house was inaccessible due to bins and beer kegs from the local club. Also the bins allocated to the property were completely full

Sofa needs urgent armrest repair No hooks anywhere to hang coats etc staircase awkward for older people The garden area unkempt and furniture dangerous. Arch way entrance to car parking area narrow and lined with dustbins would be unsuitable for large SUVs and is very untidy

Location, decor, outside space, and shower was good.

There were no basic accoutrements; including salt & pepper. No dishwasher tablets or even sponge provided to wash up. Given the listing and price, one would expect to be able to at least make a cup of tea. a bit lacking when compared to other properties I’ve stayed in.

It had Netflix and the communications from the owners was good. It was central to Alnwick.

The property was quite cold and in a very deprived and rundown area. The vicinity was actually quite depressing. The house is directly next to a fairly busy road and the noise from traffic passing in the morning was quite loud. The parking was difficult to get to through a narrow archway being blocked by a series of bins and was also strewn with litter. The furnishing and bedding was generally very cheap and poor quality. The small area at the back of the house also had debris and litter which could easily be cleared up by the owners. After the first night my wife had what appeared to be bites on her back which may or may not have been from the bedding. Overall, we felt that the property in no way justified the cost. In fairness we were very disappointed with Alnwick which isn’t the fault of the accommodation.
