Roy is a super host, very welcoming and makes you feel very relaxed. The old farm house is beautifully set in its rambling country garden, and is a credit to Roy's hard work and love of family connection. Them was a beautiful addition to our host family, making sure our room was ready for us. Tyson was also welcoming with a waggy tail ready for a pat, but Luna was a bit offhand😉 Great access for our drives down to the coast and Kinsale.

It’s the quirkiest place we have ever stayed everywhere you look there is something interesting to see it’s clean it’s so relaxed and the welcome of your name outside the door is a nice personal touch and the wee games in the room shower is amazing the whole design is very well thought out 😌 and you can’t forget the dogs most friendly dogs 👏

The only thing I’d change is the bedroom door just the sliding door you can see through it and just scared if your coming in a bit later you are creeping about just so you make zero noise as the room facing has the same sliding door that’s the only thing 🙏🙏

"Lots to like, but also things to consider..."

Lots of positives. - Roy (the owner) was away, but his colleagues were cheerful and helpful. - Roy was really prompt in returning messages. - The location is excellent for both quick access to Cork City and the airport. - Fabulous gardens - you just need the right weather and time of year, neither of which we had unfortunately. - Huge bedroom and ensuite. - Lots of interesting art, knick-knacks and that sense of staying in idiosyncratic accommodation, away from the hotel chain look. Real homely feel. - Access to a good coffee maker and coffee, and a pretty reasonable breakfast. - Really cosy duvet and cover.

A few suggestions: - You really need to address the issue of the 'lip' between the floor of the kitchen and the living room. Both, my wife and I tripped over it and nearly face-planted. Even a small sign would be good. - The room really deserves a Queen-sized bed , not just a double! And maybe an upgraded mattress. - The blinds didn't keep the light out. Maybe get some curtains, or some black-out blinds. And a blind was needed in the en-suite - There's none at all. - The door to the room is a sliding one, with a simple latch to close it. There may not have been anyone else in the house, but it's always good to shut your door to the world (and lock it properly for those security-minded) for the night. - The en-suite was funky and modern, but the waterfall shower was anything but. Is it a pressure issue? - The continental breakfast was OK, but a bit more variety would be good. Scrambled eggs maybe, not just a cold boiled one? Mix up the bread too? Also, the ham and cheese and condiments were from Lidl/Aldi. Again, no problem, we shop there too, but the ham was cheap and had no taste and perhaps some different cold meats? - It probably is cheaper than staying in a hotel nearby, but not that much cheaper. Overall our stay was fine, but I thought it could have been better. Thank-you.
