"Clean, nice rooms, over a noisy cafe"

Place was very clean, beds were comfortable, staff was friendly. Large rooms. Very close to the night market, location in Old Town was super.

There is no sound insulation between the cafe downstairs and the room so every kitchen sound (grinding of coffee beans, etc.) and conversation could be heard. Likewise noise from the street was rather constant. With ear plugs this place would be much higher rated. Coffee shop downstairs provided delicious but overpriced coffee and food (overpriced for Chiang Mai)

There were two staff that were nice: one girl who speaks good English and the night shift guy who tried to fix the hot water issue(not successful even by 1:30am, but he tried) . That’s why I give 3 points in rating instead of 1.

My one-night stay has multiple issues that made my experience extremely disappointing. I booked the room last minute, just 20 minutes before my arrival, as a way to treat myself before beginning a meditation retreat in a monastery. I was looking forward to a relaxing and comfortable night, but instead, it turned into a stressful and disappointing experience. After returning from dinner around midnight, I discovered there was no hot water in the room. Despite the staff’s attempts to fix it, the issue remained unresolved by 1:30 a.m. Exhausted, I had no choice but to go to bed without showering, which was deeply frustrating and far from the treat I had envisioned. This incident made me question the condition and cleanliness of the room. The bathroom sink had visible dust, the toilet was unclean, and essentials like fresh towels and drinking water were missing, forcing me to request them separately. These are basic amenities that should have been in the room upon check-in, raising concerns about how well the room had been prepared or maintained. The following morning, I informed the concierge about the hot water issue before leaving at 9 a.m., giving them ample time to resolve it before my return. I was told that the person capable of fixing the issue would only be available after 10 a.m. When I returned at 11:30 a.m., the hot water issue was resolved, but I was denied a late checkout request. This meant I couldn’t take a proper shower, dry off, or pack at my own pace, despite the previous night’s inconvenience. The room also fell short of advertised standards. It was listed as having a flat-screen TV and a refrigerator, but neither was present. I have taken photos of the room to document this discrepancy. Upon checking out at 12 p.m., I requested access to the luggage storage service advertised on Booking.com, but I was denied. This left me feeling disregarded and unwelcome, as though my presence was no longer of concern once I had checked out.
