The hotel was neat

Both the place itself and the staff were in no way welcoming. The gates were locked when we arrived and a grumpy old guy eventually met us and just yelled at us in Russian (which we don't speak). After making to reception and enduring more language barriers and grumpy attitudes, even though the price on Booking.com was AUD74, they wanted more and wanted us to transfer the money (Visa to Visa) or they would drive us to an ATM for cash. Just use Booking.com to transact the payment via Visa for god's sake! Lastly, we were asked what time we wanted breakfast and we said 7:30am. However, at 7:30am there was not a sole to be found in the entire hotel. They either forget or just decided not to feed us (we suspect the latter)!

The staff charged additional money, so we ended up paying a higher price.

The receptionist, Elena, was really nice. I like her a lot. It’s also really peaceful, I love the sea view from our room. I love the sunset and sunrise as well.

It was the only available property in the area, otherwise there wasn't anything good about it.

Very poor breakfast, a mix of Soviet-style porridge with local chicken sausages, the only coffee option for breakfast was instant coffee — otherwise tea. No heating in the room — the weather was warm during my stay though, but it's hard to imagine how one can stay there in the winter with temperatures dropping below zero in this area. The shower worked unstably, I had to wait long for warm water, the shower leaked heavily onto the floor all the time. The WiFi almost never worked, and when it did, the speed wasn't enough even to load ordinary webpages, of course it wasn't sufficient for video calls. The mobile connection also didn't work most of the time, sometimes switching between the Tajik and Kyrgyz networks. No shops or cafes or restaurants nearby, and just one marshrutka connection to the city — otherwise you are dependent on taxi services. All in all, it was quite scary.
