"A stay for wine lovers at a converted winery with superb finishings."

9.0

The vistas from the hotel are fabulous, particularly for wine lovers, and the use of wine-inspired finishings made for a complete winery- stay experience.

The parking is limited and mobility to the rooms with luggage is not convenient. The bistro food is average.

"Relaxing stay and wonderful staff."

7.0

The staff are exceptionally friendly. The bed was wide and comfortable. The museum in this small village is very impressive and we were lucky enough to visit when there was an additional temporary exhibit about Charles Rennie Mackintosh which was packed with surprising information. I was kindly given a tour of the hotel's wine cellars at short notice and being the only person on the tour. The hotel is pleasantly quirky having been created from the old wine co-operative buildings and cellars.

For a four star hotel the bedroom was quite small. Only one restaurant was open on Mondays and Tuesdays and the menu was limited with main course dishes quite similar in flavours and the desserts nothing special. Other reviewers comment on the breakfast being exceptional but I have had similar elsewhere at lower starred establishments. There isn't sufficient parking for all hotel guests who arrive by car, so parking has to be found in the narrow village streets.
