Cosy and eco-friendly cabins next to 16th century pub

Ideal location nice and quiet suited all our needs had a lovely stay

Location and picturesque views.

The plumbing didn’t work, causing issues everyone a toilet was flushed or sink used. Constant noise from outside bedroom (from heating/generator?) which sounded like an aircraft outside the window all night. Beds were very uncomfortable and squeaked all night from both bedrooms. No tea towels to dry up cups etc. the heating doesn’t work. Outside lights kept going on and off throughout the night keeping my children awake.

A very pretty, quiet village in a great location with a great park and dog walk, close by. Close to Newmarket and the pod was clean and reasonably comfortable. However, it had advertised that it had WiFi and a tv, and it had neither. The 16th century pub, was also closed during our visit, but we were able to find a very nice pub not too far away. The other issue was the water pump (we think) which after using the shower or flushing the toilet, sounded like a drone flying right outside the bedroom windows. If you’re NOT travelling with teenagers, it’s lovely, just don’t use the bathroom facilities before bedtime.

No micro wave oven, tht would have been handy, and a tv.

The location is excellent - a very quiet rural village setting but easy enough to travel around if that's what you want to do. Newmarket and other towns are within a 20-minute or so drive and plenty of options for day trips, walking etc. The facility idea itself is a great one and the place was lovely and warm. There is a decent amount of space even for 4 people, although storage is quite limited and the furnishing is basic. The sofa bed was more comfortable than the actual bed although this is of course a very personal thing - the bed is VERY firm. The pub the accommodation is next to is friendly and welcoming. We didn't try the food so can't comment on that

The kitchen area could really do with a microwave - SO much easier and more convenient for the majority of self-catering type prep than a small hob is. We ended up eating sarnies and salads because the hob arrangement would have meant shopping for more than we wanted or needed. That's a small thing overall even though it would be a really good improvement. The main downside for us was that the place had not been cleaned at all from the previous guests staying - their beds were unmade, their dirty towels were still on the bathroom floor, and dirty crockery etc in the sink (although guests are asked to clean these up after themselves, even so, a cleaner would have sorted it I presume?!) bins were pretty full, and there were smaller items of rubbish on the floor, screwed up receipts and the like. We left it a lot cleaner than we found it. We tried calling but the signal was so poor we were unable to get a connection, we mentioned it tot he pub staff but apparently they aren't anything directly to do with the accommodation so were unable to help, and as we were only there for 2 nights decided to go with the flow - largely because it looked as though the previous guests had only used 1 of the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms so we felt OK with using the other ones, although those weren't exactly fully cleaned either :-( It's a real shame, as these pods have the potential to be fantastic - but the cleanliness aspect let the whole thing down very badly.
