We knew from the photographs that the decor was dated but it was also very shabby. Ceiling paper hanging loose in the dining room. Holes in the plasterboard walks where door handles had been bashed into them. Wall paper scuffed in many places. Worn out cushions on window seats, worn out carpet on stairs, stained carpets, main bathroom especially bad. Cupboards full of owners clothes, food, shoes. Owners slippers and scarves in entrance. Christmas decorations still abundant in July !!!!! Broken candle holders and Knick knacks abound. Half used bottles of scent littered everywhere. Mismatched china. Badly chipped china. Dirty oven. Owners personal laundry in washing machine on arrival. A kitchen drawer full of out of date pharmaceutical items. A dining table barely big enough for four people (quite how 8 people would cope - relays I guess) Scruffy sofas with bad staining.

The manor is a large, very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable property containing everything you require for a wonderful and relaxing stay, we will certainly make a return visit in the future. Our host Elodie gave us a very warm welcome and we settled in very quickly. Good location, plenty to do and see within a short drive and some very quiet spots for walking.

Our host was great. A home away from home. Quirky accommodation with beautiful artwork. Interesting history.
