Má Si H'MÔNG HOMESTAY Tả Phìn

The hostess is lovely, really friendly, and tries her best to make you feel welcome and at home.You are just 1km walk from eastern Ta Phin that has awesome Dao baths.

This review comes after having stayed at other H'mong homestays in the region, at the exact same price, well aware it's super cheap, so it's not to be mean with a lovely family not rolling on money... But it's lacking the very basics. Little things could go a loooong way to go to 6, 7 or 8/10. It was really uncomfortable, at least in the room we had. Mattress was a 4cm hard as wood foam pad with a thin fleece cover. No towels, NO BED SHEETS. One thick fleece blanket. Just picture sweaty you between two (cleanish?) fleeces sleeping on the floor and maybe consider investing a few more $ for somewhere else in Ta Phin. Typical thin as paper walls but that is classic to those traditional houses for all those homestays. We ended up paying quite a lot for food (3x the price of the room itself) because of miscommunications as everything is made via Google translate, and more food than we wanted being made for us then charged. There is not necessarily always someone around to talk to, and no one speaks much english at all, so we had a very hard time being able to simply pay and leave in the morning in time to go on with our plans. Ta phin itself is not the most scenic place in Sapa. and this homestay specifically is set in the bottom of the valley, on the west side of lower Ta Phin that is well, a very poor rural urban area, with trash everywhere and farms around. If you go further north in Ta Phin, you could get more views as you're a bit more up the hills, where it's mostly more expensive "homestays". We found that Ta Phin had neither the convenience of an actual town nor the charm of a rural village like some other areas have in Sapa. It's only scenic if you don't usually ever see mountains and plants around you.

The room located on the west, it was a bit hot during the day when I was there, otherwise it was cool in the night, with strong wind.

This homestay was beyond lovely, if you are looking for a homely feel, miss your mum and want to connect with a beautiful lady this is for you. she was so so lovely and made us feel so at home, definitely recommend to everyone

Lovely family, good space, nice size rooms, lovely food

Accommodation at Ma Si is a real homestay. Thank you for the friendly welcome and the opportunity to get a glimpse into local life. The room is stylish and cozy, everything is clean. We also liked the terrace with a nice view. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty. We had a nice trip around the village. We definitely recommend staying here.

Forever touched by our stay here. Our sweet and caring host made us feel at home. We shared some beautiful moments together talking about life and more. We can say that we experienced Vietnamese hospitality and lifestyle first hand. Thanks so much ❤️ We promised to come back!
