Rorke's Drift Bed & Breakfast

Friendly, efficient and helpful staff. Beautiful view of the Buffalo River from our room.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were pleasant and welcoming Food was simple, homely and tasty! I liked that this guesthouse was part of a community empowerment project...

The road to the lodge was in very poor condition....fine for large powerful vehicles but difficult for those in smaller cars...it might be useful to issue some warning on the website... It was good to be able to meet other guests at the communal dining table but it may also be a good idea to set a few individual tables for those who prefer a more private meal...

Comfortable bed & very clean room. Though very oily, the breakfast was great & most of the staff members were great.

No shower cap, shower not working, so we had to use the shower in one of the other rooms, which was also not 100%. Dumisile shouldn't be working in hospitality. She should rather stay home or herd cattle. She has a bad attitude...

The location. Scenic surroundings 🙌 The room was big and clean.

There was no TV. No electricity all night. We had no choice of food. These things overall make the stay poor. I would not recommend anyone.

The room was very comfortable, clean and with an amazing view. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fantastic.

The road to the property was a bit tricky!

We had dinner with them and it was fabulous, as was the breakfast . Having said that it was a long way to go eat anywhere else! We took our own wine to watch the sun setting over the Drift and then with our dinner.

Visitors should be aware that visiting Rorkes Drift and the B&B, means a 30km drive down a dirt road, (whichever direction you approach from) and which if you are in a regular 2 wheel drive vehicle and/or have little or no experience in dirt roads, is pretty challenging to say the least! But it is worthwhile and it's a fabulous place to stay.

Staff amazing. Food excellent, surreal experience and surroundings overlooking the Buffalo river. Stayed here due to its proximity to Rorkes Drift and to support the Khula Skills Hub, which I understand was formed/built by the late Charles Aikenhead to help surrounding school children build a future. With 85% unemployment in the area, this community is extremely grateful for all the help it receives and to give them the chance of a half decent future..

The road leading up to the accommodation needs some improvement to encourage others to make the journey. Aircon (although not cheap to install/ run) would be preferred to the ceiling fan. Although we booked through booking.com, the B & B doesn't deal with them anymore, so we had to pay the accommodation directly.
