The property was well equipped with modern appliances

There was very substantial construction work going on immediately in front of the property. We were booked for 25 days and the road work, demolition etc persisted for the whole period. It was noisy and totally spoiled the ambience of the place. The owners said they hadn’t been told about the work, said it shouldn’t be an issue for us and refused to agree to our cancelling some of the booking and refunding us, or to offer a discount. We really needed a quiet, relaxing break by the sea so we found another lovely apartment 15 minutes away and moved there for most of the stay, so incurred much greater cost. We are extremely disappointed with the unsympathetic and grasping attitude of the owners as it can’t be the case that they didn’t know about the work. Also note: No laundry or dishwasher tabs were provided, nor any replacement rubbish bags, a small point but indicative. The workmen outside the apartment said work will probably continue for months.
