The Birds Nest - Central City Loft

Good central location, right next to the cable car and harbour side bars / restaurants. Main living area is impressive with high painted ceiling and is tastefully decorated.

The main bedroom smelt really musty, thankfully not the bed but don’t know whether it was the carpet or the other bedding stored in the room. Also the washing machine spin cycle does not work so not great when you have to dry wet clothes in the tumble dryer, it takes all evening. This was mentioned in previous reviews going back to November, so disappointing that it was not fixed. The dishwasher wasn’t draining properly either. The carpark is a challenge with suitcases - so many gates, steps etc. It is quite noisy at night, flat is basically on main shopping street and in a shopping centre - the Concrete Bar downstairs seems to have closed so that is good.

The paintings were beautiful and once you are upstairs, the location is convenient and not too loud. The place is very long, which was novel.

Stairs. Five sets of them. That was not adequately advertised. And getting from the car park to the property itself is such a hassle. If you have any luggage, you either need to decide what to take or flat out struggle. The property could have been 10/10 after that and still not worth all that.

It is a lovely space to be, that is, lovely interior, spacious, beautiful windows and outlook, high ceilings, close to everything. Surprisingly quiet given the location but no doubt had the bar on the floor below been open it wouldn’t have been quiet! The car park was very handy.

The rating we gave it of good would be raised to great or excellent if a few things/maintenance items could be improved. Especially considering the price of the booking. First, while there is a good big oven there is only one small baking dish, so how easily people can cook in it is greatly impaired. Second, while there is a microwave there are no microwave dishes. Third, the washing machine does not spin dry at all. I noted this in other reviews and mistakenly assumed it would be fixed but no. So if you have clothes that cannot be tumble dried you are left with sodden, dripping clothes that take days to dry. Fourth, we were not left with any instructions that worked about accessing the wifi, i had to call to get the details. The password should be left on the modem. Fifth, the tap in the main bathroom sink is incredibly loose. Lastly, the kitchen sink does not drain completely so keeping it clean is impossible.

Nice and central, easy to walk to many locations and bus stops very close by if you prefer, stunning interior, plenty of space. Two keypads to access apartment so felt nice and secure. Noice blockers for windows were perfect for night to block out any noise from below.

This place looked cute online with the bird painted ceiling, but had some issues. The access to get to the apartment was a crazy amount of stairs both in parking garage and in the building. We needed 3 different codes throughout our stay and instructions only included 1. The toilet in the master room was broken and would not flush. Washer did not spin the load and clothes were soaking wet, even after multiple attempts to put them through spin cycle. There was no brush or scrub pad for the kitchen.

Central location, comfortable loft for family group. Bar on floor below seems permanently closed which was a relief. Noise reduction panels were provided but I think the apartment would have been very noisy if the bar was running.

Good instructions were provided but missing some details like code to enter building from the lane and code to exit car park without fee. However, management responded quickly to enquiry and was helpful.

The location was great and the main living area was wonderful and very special. We loved that aspect of the experience. A very comfortable lounge with great ambience. It was also a pleasant surprise to find washing machine and dryer in the bathroom.

The beds were not the most comfortable which was extremely disappointing as our stay would have been greatly improved otherwise. We also had a stressful time getting access. The emails with access information did not arrive. Our follow up emails prior to arrival kept being responded to with the same templated response and giving us the hosts number to call which when we did call the mobile number provided switched immediately to an answer service that we had to call several times before our call was answered and we were able to get the access info we needed.

Apartment was beautiful. Murals on wall and up to roof were superb. It' obvious that much time and love was invested in producing a first class apartment with well appointed facilities.

Not the fault of the hosts but not ideal being located upstairs with a bar below. The noise from the bar detracted from a good night's sleep although, to be fair, the room was equipped with a number of noise reducing panels.

The location is super handy for shopping and tourist attractions. The Apartment is very spacious. Having a carpark in central Wellington is very handy.

We found the access to the carpark and stairs to the Apartment very difficult and also they felt unsafe, with dark corners, not clean and generally the type of place homeless people would hang out.
