Valletta - living the city like a local

This is only our second time in Malta, we called in last year while on a cruise, and decided we wanted to base ourselves in Valletta when we came back. Dina provided all our check-in info prior to arrival, and was helpful during our phone call before we travelled, so no problems with finding the place or gaining access …. we booked a taxi once landed at airport, and dropped us off at the door. The apartment is in a fantastic location, and kitted out with everything we needed for our stay. We loved the layout, and although the bathroom was small, it was fine for the week. The living room is a good size, the bedroom is huge, both with air-con ….. the kitchen facilities are fine, but we ate out for the duration of our stay ….. there’s a good size fridge freezer for keeping pre-drinks cool ;-) The apartment is less than a 2 minute walk to the Marsamxett Harbour, the Grand Harbour is 5-10 minutes the other way, and amazing views from both …… we would recommend booking a harbour ferry tour to see all the sights. The ferry to Sliema is only 5 minutes walk, and a great way to get to the other side of the harbour. It’s only 10 minutes walk to the fast ferry terminal if you want to travel to Gozo. A 10 minute walk will get you into the centre, with loads of excellent restaurants and bars, several with live music. There’s a real buzz to this place, and would be difficult not to love it (and the local beers). There’s plenty of steps and hills up/down, like the streets of San Francisco, so a great way to get fit. The bus terminal is close (near the Triton fountain) if you want to tour around, at only €2 per person winter rate, €2.50 summer rate from mid-June (ticket lasts for 2 hours) ….. taxi’s are also great using the Bolt app, and well priced.

The location of the apartment was great. We were able to watch sunsets over the harbor from descending stairs from our dead-end street. The apartment was nice and clean and well equipped with all the equipment and supplies that we needed. We would certainly stay here again. The bedding was truly comfortable.

We had a little trouble with the key safe because the code was not sent to us in a timely manner. Watch the stairs that are to and from the bedroom.

No dishwasher and microwave.

A decent, clean apartment with everything we needed, in a great location. The bed was comfortable, as were the pillows.

The bathroom was a little small, as was the shower - the positioning of the taps meant we often accidentally nudged the taps and turned them off as we were trying to wash ourselves. Could have done with some instructions for the cooker/oven. These two points AREN'T the host's fault, but worth mentioning: taxi drivers seem to have extreme difficulty finding this place, despite the extra information supplied by the host (i.e. north end of the street), so if you're getting a taxi to the airport on your way home, it's worth allowing extra time. In the end we met the driver at the bottom of the steps near the apartment, on the next street along. Also, there's a dog in a nearby property which barks a lot - including during the night, so if you're a light sleeper I highly recommend earplugs.

Lovely apartment in a quiet, historic part of the city.

The historic nature of the building led to some small inconveniences. Narrow passage to bedroom, small bathroom etc.

I totally liked it. Because it is a tipical maltese house, so you really feel part of the city. And it was clean. The bedroom is big and confortable (beautiful furniture, comfortable mattress and pillows), I slept very well. There was all I needed, especially a lot of things for breakfast well disposed in the kitchen (coffee, tee etc), as well as all essentials needed for cooking and for living (washing machine etc), I felt really at home. I especially appreciated to find a clean new sponge for washing the dishes ;) details like these are not obvious. The position was different then booking.com is showing (North part of St. Christopher Street) but it is very good nevertheless. The city center is small so you can reach everything on foot in no time, and it is more the quiet side, which is good. If you stand in front of the door you can see the sea. I appreciated also the book shelf: spent time reading the history of Malta I found there. Finally, I always got answers to my questions. I would definitely come again. I felt really sad when leaving :)

Actually nothing negative! I liked everything. Maybe a litte bit dfficult (but it is not the fault of the apartment) that the neighbor's dog was barking very early in the morning and you hear it strongly. And there is also a car reparing place below, can get quite loud.. I wanted originally to work remote the week, now I am glad I changed my mind and did just vacation instead, for working it might have been a bit loud. But going around during the day one doesn't notice and in the evening and nights, where I was at home, it was always quiet and peaceful.

The location was fantastic. Away from the centre, but walking distance. Great sunset views. The host was very eager to please and allowed us to store bags after check out time. Coffee machine, washing machine, air conditioner in living area and bedroom. great facilities.

A few minor things lacking for an apartment kitchen (broom, sharp knife) but very minor things like that.
