This was the worst experience after a decade of frequent European travel. Booked through Booking.com, the rental falsely advertised air conditioning (host mocked us, claiming neighbors “still want heat”), a working fridge (left open, non-cooling despite troubleshooting; spoiled groceries), and a dishwasher that didn’t exist. The host (host4U) initially responded but later ghosted us, deflecting blame and insulting our competence. Wifi also failed initially. After fruitless calls to Booking.com (they refused action unless the host “accepted fault”), we relocated mid-trip. Three weeks later, no resolution: host4U ignores us, the owner denies responsibility, and Booking.com remains passive. Key issues: misleading listings, zero accountability, and financial loss (spoiled food, no refund). Lesson: Verify amenities directly with hosts pre-check-in, read manuals for red flags, and avoid multi-party rentals where platforms abdicate responsibility.
