We originally booked the Hidden Valley Cottage and then were told just a couple days before our arrival that a construction project would be going on in the yard (a no go for us as we were traveling with our dog), which was not advertised at all during the booking process. At this point prices on other locations had gone up so it was very hard to find something comparable for a similar price. The management company moved us to a different property which was less than half the size, and only gave us a $40 credit even though the second house was much smaller and an even sketchier location. I would warn anyone going to Joshua Tree that this house is close to the main highway through the town which does not really feel that safe at night, lots of people appearing to be on drugs wandering around. If you want to feel safer in Joshua Tree I would stay elsewhere.

It’s in a residential area. I didn’t do my homework and didn’t expect that. I had imagined something more secluded. But again could have done my research.

GBIt's an amazing house to stay for people who want privacy and relaxation. It's quite a big house (with two rooms) for two people, plus a large desert garden (with BBQ and hot tub but we didn't use the latter). The house design is modern, kitchen is very well equipped even with a number of spices, olive oil, zip bags, and a dishwasher (with loads of tablets), making cooking & cleaning fun and easy. Love the posters around the house, and the plants/ landscape. Nice books and some boardgames available too. Feels surreal to bbq in a desert while we could see a snow-capped mountain far away! There is also washing machine & dryer which makes it really handy in the middle of our trip. Very clean - although we did see one or two insects - yet we are in a wild place afterall! We really love this place and wish we could stay longer. 10 out of 10. It feels very luxurious although everything seems to be very simple.
The only thing we would like to point out is the door code is not the most intuitive one. It takes several attempts to get it 'turn on', and for a few times we didn't manage to lock the door properly despite following the steps, which could get a bit frustrated when we just wanted to get going! Appreciate the code is unique to us though, and that having a door code instead of handing keys over makes it easier for both sides to check in and out. However would be an even more smooth experience if the door code is improved in the future. Yet it's not a major thing - we still love the stay!
