"Most of our cons/recommendations only have to do with the hot tub, so all said, we really enjoyed our stay here! Mik"

9.0

We loved staying at this cabin! We rented it to do some stargazing and the location was perfect. Mike was great to work with and very easy to get a hold of, if needed. Pros: * Easy check-in/check-out * Reliable WiFi. Almost the entire town lost WiFi one of the days we were there. The only businesses we visited that still had internet was Blanton’s Market and the Shell Food Mart. We never lost ours because it’s Starlink! * A/C * Hot tub * If you stand on the deck, the house on the right is at a height and angle where they couldn’t see us in the hot tub. On the left side is a house that has a perfect view of the hot tub but with the way the top opens, the top blocks them from watching you. I don’t know if the owners did that on purpose, but we loved that fact. * Plenty of bath towels provided, and they were plush! * Washer/dryer * Comfortable beds * Plush robes

Cons/Recommendations: * The fridge/freezer is on the smaller side. We only stayed two nights and cooked most of the time, so we brought lots of food with us. For only two nights, we packed the fridge, as well as the freezer compartment. We actually couldn’t fit everything in it. A full-sized fridge/freezer would have been helpful. * It would be really useful if hooks were installed next to the steps leading into the hot tub. We didn’t have a clean place to put our robes. Maybe install a few hooks on the framing of the deck. * The land is not level, which can be expected when it’s up a steep road. You have to watch your step when walking on the grassy side of the property, which is manageable. It’s not manageable at nighttime, though. I know it would cost money and time, but having a smooth pathway just from the deck to the hot tub stairs would be helpful. We were stargazing, so all of the lights were off. We slipped several times, even though one of us had a flashlight. * I don’t know what the standard is to cleaning a “public” hot tub, but it really needed cleaning. The first night, we noticed brown grime floating all around us. It was really disgusting. From what I can recall, the cabin was booked back-to-back for at least a week before we arrived. Maybe when that happens, it should be cleaned far more often. There is a very small sign next to the hot tub stairs that lists the rules, including the importance of showering before entering. Clearly, nobody read it, or they did but decided not to follow it. Maybe highlight the showering rule in the communication that’s sent with the check-in instructions. Even better, you should charge people a refundable cleaning deposit. If renters are forced to do this, they’d be far more interested in abiding by the rule. Just a thought. Either way, we were extremely disappointed by the condition of it because we were looking forward to taking advantage of the hot tub.
