GBThis was affordable accommodation with easy access to Christchurch and surrounding areas by car. The room itself was clean and spacious enough for 2 people with good wardrobe space. The bathroom facilities were clean enough and the shower had good pressure and hot water. The owners were polite and pleasant to talk with.
The kitchen facilities were fairly grubby and some of the equipment needed an extra clean before use. We didn't feel comfortable with the way the owners raw meat was being stored open and on all shelves and draws in the fridge. The fridge had an unpleasant smell. The extra security features like locks, drive camera and alarm, made us feel uneasy and suggested to us the area was unsafe. We would have appreciated it if the owners introduced themselves as initially the accommodation felt like we had entered into someone's home by mistake.

TV sound systems are really good and loud. Super clear in the room until 11:30pm.
NZI liked that my host had a Welcome list all written out for me to read on the small side table when I arrived. It included Host contact, House Rules ( e.g no pig products to be cooked or eaten in the house), Emergency Information, check out process (where to put guest key), public transport and shops locally. It also listed the free Wifi password. The host (a young couple) were open to any questions I had for them.
I would have mentioned this if I stayed longer, but maybe the bathmat could be changed before a guest uses the bathroom? I found a couple of times (during my two night stay that the bathmat was very wet) I had to stand on the cold floor.
