We had a lovely stay at this charming apartment in Auronzo, styled like a traditional rustic house from the region. Elizabeth is a very caring and attentive host—she regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and solved any issues we had during our stay. She also prepared a thoughtful and detailed guide with clear instructions on using the apartment, along with great suggestions for things to do in the area. On a particularly rainy day, she even recommended a nice spa place, which we really appreciated. The location is peaceful and well situated for exploring the Dolomites. It’s around 30 minutes by car to both Cortina d'Ampezzo and the starting point for the Tre Cime / Drei Zinnen hikes. Auronzo itself also has some nice walking routes and scenic views, making it a pleasant place to spend time even if you're not heading out on major hikes.

Just a few things to keep in mind: the apartment is not modern, so if you're looking for a sleek, contemporary space, this might not be the right fit. The nice decorations and style make up for it. As it's an older house, the insulation isn't perfect—but the cozy fireplace more than makes up for it. Just note that it does require a good amount of wood to keep things warm. There's also a slight damp smell due to limited ventilation, but it’s something you quickly get used to. Additionally, the electrical system is a bit dated and can’t handle too many high-consumption appliances at once. We learned to avoid running the kettle and dishwasher simultaneously to prevent tripping the circuit. Nothing major, just something to be aware of.

Cozy, but a bit small for 5 people

The flat is cozy and warm, despite being on the ground floor it was very quiet as it is in a side street, the kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. The location is great for hiking as within 20 to 40 minutes drive you have plenty of choice. Elisabeth was very friendly and handed me over the keys in person. Highly recommended!

Just two small remarks. The pellet stove is a bit annoying because no instructions are given to operate it, and even very short power outages (we had 3 over 5 days) lead to the fact that the stove stops working, and restarting it correctly is not easy. Providing the instructions to restart it would help. Just 1-2 dishwasher tabs would have been appreciated, but no big deal.

It's a 10. It has to be a 10. The apartment felt like from those christmas cartoons you watched as a kid about alpine huts with fireplace and wooden interior. So that's exactly it, very cosy and home-like. The apartment also had everything you'd need, even a washer-dryer!
