"Location over luxury - fabulous location in the centre of St Ives"

8.0

We had a great stay at Redfern Court in July 2025. The location simply can’t be beaten.. a few steps away from St Ives busiest streets full of quaint shops and places to eat. We loved being in the centre of the hustle and bustle - but without the noise as the property is set one street back. The property was adequate space for a family of 4 and just enough room for hanging clothes. There are plenty of drawers, chairs and kitchen equipment. Nice little shed/mini outhouse with a body board/surfboard and games to borrow which the kids loved. We loved the bathroom - recently renovated and brand new with easy to use shower and shelves for bathroom storage. The beds were comfy and bedding really clean. There were adequate towels for a family of 4. The parking spot (located an 8 min walk away at the train station) was a great addition as st Ives parking is usually at a premium and we were able to unload the car on arrival/departure from a shop loading bay around 25 meters from the accommodation entrance (there’s a few stairs to navigate so bare this in mind if carrying heavy cases like we were). For the price and location, we loved this property and would consider staying again.

Whilst the location of the property was great and the mini yard area outside the property was fine, be aware that people walk through this to get to the neighbouring properties which means walking past the lounge/master bedroom windows. The walk from the property door to the Main Street involves walking through a back alley where shop bins were often found tipped over with rubbish everywhere and made it feel very dirty (probably caused by seagulls). There was a musty smell upon entering the property which we couldn’t manage to shift and although the beds etc were spotlessly clean, I feel the whole place could have benefited from a deep clean at some stage. In particular the second bedroom window/blind was gross and had a little snail living on it! Be aware the car park space is at the far end of the car park in a space which is hard to navigate into due to limited space in-front so you need your driving skills! We were thankful the whole time we were there, the next space was always empty making it easier to park. See photo.

The location was within easy walking distance to all amenities. We enjoyed walking along the beach path & having convenience stores close by. The cottage was very comfortable & had loads of storage, it was also very quiet as it is away from the main St.

When booking months ago from overseas the description stated there was on site parking, we found out closer to the date of our arrival, we had to park along the railway line, although not hard to get to it would be better if the description was clearer. We were supplied with a permit which was helpful but it was an inconvenience having to unload quickly near the cottage, then drive to the car park & walk back. I always make sure we have parking when booking, so maybe change on site parking to parking nearby.
