Eine wunderschöne kleine Anlage: Das Haupthaus wirkt mit Tatamimatten, Reispapierwänden, Betten und Futons, Wildledersofas, Bauhausstühlen und nicht zuletzt der großen Leinwand mit Netflix-Anschluss wie eine sehr gelungene, gemütliche Mischung aus traditionell japanischem Haus und einem Alpen-Chalet und passt so perfekt in die bergige Gegend. Hier können bequem 3-4 Leute in Betten und auf die 3 Schlafzimmer verteilt nochmal mindestens 3 Leute auf Futons übernachten. Bei warmen Temperaturen lädt ein schöner Hof mit Gartentisch zum draußen sitzen, dahinter dann nochmal ein geräumiges Einzimmer-Haus mit 4 Betten und eigenem Bad. Wir waren im kühlen Herbst dort und hatten es durch gute Heizungen und sogar beheizbare Tatami-Auflagen sehr gemütluch warm. Die Küche ist ausreichend eingerichtet. Es sind keinerleih Lebensmittel vorhanden, aber um die Ecke gibt es einen sehr kleinen Lebensmittelladen und einen Getränkemarkt. Wir haben vorher in Hakone das Notwendigste eingedeckt, was gut war, weil die wenigen Restaurants/Cafés der Gegend geschlossen oder ausgebucht waren. Bus- und Zugstation sind nur wenige Minuten entfernt. Es war ein toller Aufenthalt. Wir sind an einem Tag mit dem Hakone Ropeway aus Gora (Bus war zu voll und hat uns nicvt mehr mitgenommen, Zugfahrt kein Problem) zum Ashi-See gefahren und von dort mit dem Boot nach Motohakone. Von dort fährt der Bus dann wieder bis fast vor die Haustür (Ohiradai). Am nächsten Tag noch mit dem Zug zum Outdoormuseum. Andere Urlauber hatten den Hakone Free Pass, der sich sowohl für die Zugfahrt aus Tokio als auch für alle Hakone-Aktivitäten zu lohnen scheint.

We stayed at House Garden Hakone, a lovely 3-bedroom home located in the quiet town of Ōhiradai, just a 7-minute walk from the station. The house is super cute, cozy, and spacious perfect for families or small groups. You get to experience a traditional ryokan-style sleep, with multiple Japanese roll-out beds and warm, comfy blankets. The home has gas heating throughout, which kept us nice and warm during the colder nights and early mornings. There’s also a washing machine available, though no dryer so if you’re visiting in cooler months, note that clothes may take around 3 days to dry, don’t leave outside as it will never dry! (the gas heating does help speed it up). If you’re only staying one night, I’d skip washing. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of utensils, which made it easy to cook meals, though it would be nice if the basics like butter, oil, sugar, tea, or coffee were provided and extra beer or glasses in general. A really fun touch the owner has kimono outfits available for guests to try on and take lovely photos in, which we absolutely loved! 👘📸 The owner was incredibly attentive, helpful, and very responsive, making the stay feel easy and comfortable. Overall, this home has so much charm, warmth, and character. If I return to Hakone, I’d definitely stay here again. Thank you once again for such a lovely experience! 🙏🏼❤️

Rooms were large. Comfy beds. Updates bathrooms with good hot water and water pressure. Large projector screen to watch TV. Excellent location to train and convenient places.

Our families were scared of the wooden dolls in the back room so we hid them or moved them out of sight.
