Siete Calles / Bilbao ART

The location in the old city was very central and easy to walk to all the main attractions with good transport links close by. The apartment is very pretty and the internal soundproofing door worked very well! The little balcony is lovely and feels very private so you can watch the world go by (or party below you as the case may be) The kitchen is very well equipped (even had proper mugs!) and a nice touch that there were teabags and little cakes left for us. The street we were in was busy (see comments below) but felt very safe and the lady in the estate agent next door was able to help us get in when there was a power cut in the street!(very short but we timed it perfectly!) Overall I would recommend for people who want to be right in the centre of things.

The road outside cannot be reached by car and it is about a 10 minute walk to the underground car park that is probably the closest you could park. This was ok for us but would recommend not taking a car there as you don’t really need one. It likely would be an issue for taxis though as well. There is a lively bar directly below the apartment which was so noisy that you could not have comfortably sat in that room for long even with the windows shut. We did go right at the end of festival so it may not always be this noisy, and we were really only there to sleep and have breakfast so this wasn’t a huge issue for us - and the soundproof internal door did its job well. Unfortunately some of the other residents were also quite noisy coming in and both bedrooms have windows onto an internal courtyard open to the wooden stairs. The second bedroom is really too small for the two beds that are in it - maybe ok for children (but see comments re noise) and fine for one person but would be tricky if two sharing both wanted to stand up at the same time. There was also no bedside table in that room (expect due to lack of space) - but you get dibs on the back room that is lovely!

The location was fantastic in the old quarter - lots of bars and restaurants with a great atmosphere and good people. Close to the city for walking or by Tram(2 minutes walk away - La Ribera) The Ribera market on the river is also great for pintxos and a beer. The apartment was perfect for my brother and I who were in town to watch a Paul Weller concert. On the first floor, Very clean with 2 twin bedrooms. A good sized lounge, kitchen - diner. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a kettle, toaster and a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. The landlord has also installed a sound proof door in the corridor for quiet nights for sleep.
