The perfect place to unwind and recover from jetlag for this female solo traveller heading back from the Arctic to Australia. Tendou picked me up from Takasaki train station, an easy shinkasen trip from Tokyo Central station. On arrival, I felt tension melt away. Birds were singing and inside gentle music was playing. Tendou has some English but I don’t speak Japanese which limited communication a bit but everyone was welcoming, helpful and responsive. I meditated, copied some sutras, bathed, went on walks and on one 15 minute bike ride past the paddy fields, I saw a fox, huge dragonfly, two cranes and a small snake (not poisonous and a sign of financial fortune according to Tendou!) The traditional Japanese dinners were superb and I enjoyed learning about the beautiful Zen Buddhist Samurai temple which has been in Tendou’s family for generations.

I liked the bed on the floor as I wanted a true Japanese experience but be aware it is very firm.

The place was stunning, both beautiful and peaceful, and the team made us feel very welcome. I would recommand it to anyone looking for a unique experience in Japan.

Everyone was very nice and the food was excellent. It has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. It's perfect for winding down a bit.

本堂での座禅体験、早朝の凜とした空気感の中で臨めるのは格別の体験となりました。住職の示唆に富んだ講話もいただき身も心も改まりました。宿泊される方は是非とも座禅会に参加してください。

お部屋からの眺望は、お墓も見えて特筆することはありませんが、宿坊なので致し方ありませんね。

Cicha, spokojna okolica, która pozwala się wyciszyć i wsłuchać w śpiew ptaków co jakiś czas przerywany odgłosami przejeżdżającego Shinkansena. Podobała mi się opcja porannej medytacji o 6:45 rano. Śniadanie przepyszne, podane w elegancki, typowo japoński sposób. Apartament posiadał również zewnętrzna, tradycyjna, drewniana wanna do zrelaksowania się po intensywnym dniu. Mnich prowadzący świątynię dobrze mówi po angielsku co nie jest regułą w tych okolicach. Pokój byl wręcz sterylnie czysty, po pierwszym noclegu obsługa wymieniła wszystkie ręczniki i dołożyła kolejne butelki wody. W obiekcie jest Wi-Fi. Do swojej dyspozycji mamy również telewizor z grami wideo.

Nie znalazłem żadnych wad.
