Brilliant home to stay in. Comfortable surroundings with everything we needed to stay

The issue we had wasn't with the house itself but someone else's home across the road. A few times a house alarm was going off and it took a while for people to turn it off. Final time was just after half past 5 in the morning.

Very comfortable and well decorated

Kitchen well equipped, nice furniture and beds. There was only two of us, but it would have been comfortable for many more. Parking was easy, right in front of the property. Less than 10 minutes leisurely walk to town centre/bus/train, so a great base to explore County Durham more widely.

The Etherley was clean and tidy and good value, the facilities and the beds were comfortable and the shower was very good. Supermarkets and shops are a short drive away and there are lots of take-aways and good pubs nearby.

Parking can be difficult especially at school times, (A nursery is opposite). The door handles look nice but are two half domes pressed together and the lip between them is sharp, my wife cut her hand twice on them, because they can be quite resistant and require a good twist to operate. Personally, I think the stairs are quite steep but that is normal for this type of property. There is not much storage space in the kitchen which is fine if you are only there for a day or two or you plan to eat out or have take-aways.
